Have u considered the fact that each plug you add your lowering the compresion of the engine ????

Yes you will lose slight compression, this is where the shims come into play

Not knocking your work m8y very nice, just curious as i wonder if the viper head has been skimmed to compensate for the lower compression the extra plug would cause.

i would love this mod for the flame out factor, but i have the os91szh and i don't think the head would allow this without major butchery and i agree the viper head is over priced.

As for sending engine components away for treatments such as plasma nitriding or hard chrome these will require additional machining before and after they have under gone the sub-contract process, so before you all start sending items to 'SwainTech or Polydyn' i'd suggest you don't

I said nothing about plasma nitriding or hard chrome. What I did say was about thermal barrier and friction reducing coatings. These coatings do nothing to make the parts physically stronger. What they do respectively is increase the parts efficiency to deal with heat and reduce frictional losses.

If you send components out for surface treatments invariably the surface will grow in size making an outside diameter eg a piston larger, and a bore eg barrel smaller, this is where the extra machining is needed, either to make the components larger or smaller to start with, or (wake up you at the back) if the treatment is surface penetrating you could get away with honing or internal grinding out to size on a barrel (ID) and on a diameter (OD) you could external grind.
Ps I can do both

Polymer coatings were originally developed for NASA space exploration programs. Over the years, coatings have been successfully used in a variety of commercial and industrial applications. Polymer Dynamics Inc. developed and continues to develop PolyDyn Performance Coatings, the finest performance engine coatings and applications on the market for automotive and racing engine components.

With 16+ years experience and testing, Polymer Dynamics Inc. has advanced the coating application for more racing engine components. Our customers are the biggest names in stock car and drag racing, the NHRA, NASCAR, Winston Cup, SCCA, CART, IRL, World Of Outlaws, and IROC.

Polydyn Performance Coatings are proven in actual competition on the race track and is unmatched by any other performance engine coating.

Polydyn Performance Engine Coatings are applied so that a .0002" to .0007" overbuild remained on the surface, but there's a lot more to these coatings than meet the eye. PolyDyn fluoropolymers actually become a part of the coated materials surface; .005" t 0.50" actual penetration depending on the material. While some overbuild can be removed, it is virtually impossible to extract a polymer from the pores of the metal to which it is applied. Consequently, PolyDyn coatings will last almost indefinitely.

Few parts have to be clearanced in order to receive coatings.
