ACE any updates?

What updates are you looking for? As I told Bill M. the clutch works as intended. I modified the shoes to have plastic inserts so the drive key does not make metal to metal contact with the shoe part. Some guy named Steve was all bent out of shape that the clutch would have RF problems. It doesn't, even without the plastic isolation. After I told Bill I did this he said he wasn't worried about RF issues anyway. The only negative issue someone might have with the clutch is the rattling at idle because I have a lot of slop in the key connection. Once the engine gets over 1000 RPM the rattling is gone.

What updates are you looking for?

How many flight hours have you put on this clutch?
Is there any RF issues during auto decents when the clutch is disengaged and rattling?
Does the rattling affect the wear characteristics of the clutch?
How many have been made?
When is production going to start?

Paul.

Not that many flight hours, around ten. The clutch doesn't see any wear during run hours. It only sees wear on spool ups.

I can't do autos but I didn't see any RF issues during idle runs with the all steel clutch. It is impossible for RF to be generated with the plastic segmented version.

The rattling may affect the wear characteristics of the clutch although for such a short time that it occurs I will be 6 feet under before I have to worry about it.

I have made two prototypes.

Production will start in 8 years when I retire from my gravy job. By then I should have answers for all the doubting Thomas.

Ace,
I read most of the posts (whew) and didn't see any mention of some sort of damping material in the clutch drive slot to reduce or eliminate the idle clattering. Possibly RTV to start with, although it won't last long, but eventually some sort of heavy duty rubber like material lining the drive slots.
