I just went out front to my driveway to hover my trex 600 and boy did I have a close call. (I do Have the video of this but at this time do not have a way to transfer this to my laptop that I use to go online, and need a site to host it)).

OK, here's what happened. I spooled up, checked my throttle and cyclic, started to throttle up and take off and the heli lifted for a half second and DOVE violantly to the left. I was in awe, and couldn't even believe my eyes.

The reason was a faulty raidus arm ball link!!! Holy crap, I could have killed someone. The video is unbelievable, and will work on getting it out to the public. Anyway, the ball link broke at a cold joint, (where the plastic flows together from both ends of the mold, and when it meets each other it has cooled too much and did not bond together properly).

Anyway, I think the whole 600 fleet should be grounded, mostly from a safety stand point (when you see the video you will understand). Secondly, even if your'e in an open safe place, had the heli went backwards, it would have done major harm.

Align, please contact me because I am not streatching the truth at all!!!You need to see the video and act accordingly because this is extremely dangerous.

I don't start many topics, but this one is important!

Not going to say more,(for now), but align needs to comment, and think about safety...!!

EDIT: Here is the link posted on the second page that MrMel has hosted for me http://www.dacsa.net/heli/t600failure2.wmv

Did you check that radius link for cracks after installing it?? Just wondering if it broke then and finally came off now... I will check mine more closely each flight, but have over 20 flights logged without issue so far. Grounding the whole fleet because yours broke would be premature unless it is happening elsewhere too. THanks for the warning.

I know that between the Szabos and Jason they did about 200 test flights before the heli came out. I wonder if a certain batch has your radius arm problem. Maybe tell us where and when you got it so others can know. I did injection molding for a coupole of years and just ran and looked over my radius arms and the meeting point is solid on mine. I also have a set of spares that look great. But like I said - could be a batch problem.

All the post bashers can put me on ignore, I hope I save 1 accident with my post. You have no Idea how fast everything happens.

Yes, my radius links went on fine, and no cracks because I checked. Swinging freely now though.. I wouldn't have brought the topic up if it wasn't crucial for people to know for safety....

I got my kit shortly after the first few kits were showing up. So, I guess in the first major batch.

I was refering to the post by jontherooster, as he commented above when I said post bashers..

I bet it happened in the first batches. Mine was from the second release and I had no radius arms or ball links fail during install or after 20 flights so far. I am betting it was that first set, as I have seen after doing a search that yours arent the only ones that broke - but all that did appear to be from the very first kits. I will keep a very close eye on mine, and await a real ALign reply.

I'll report that my 600 has no cracks in the radius arms after 10 normal flights and one flight with a seriously hard , but not crashing landing.

The rest of my ball links are still ok too.

Every detail counts!

BTW, when I first posted, I was still shakey, but I failed to say that I did crash and bent some stuff in the head, Including breaking my nice SF blades.

I read a lot of posts and take somew with a grain of salt. I wish I could impress the fealing I got when the thing went out of control in my driveway. I will never try to hover a heli In my drive again. Like I said, I have a vid but don't really know how to have it hosted. I will check in tomorrow with any new info.

There were quite a few people who broke or cracked there radius arms when they were building the kit. I lucked out and read about it before building mine. I was extra careful to line things up properly and apply uniform force to the arm when snapping it on. Mine are still fine. Glad nobody got hurt.

yea.. i have a first batch 600 and one of my ball links cracked after about the 6th flight. Luckily i caught it while i was adjusting my pitch curves with a pitch gauge. Does anyone know if align will send out replacment plastic links to people with bad links? I already picked up the new blade grips from the shop i bought my 600 from.

I think at the very least the original poster should be posting pictures of the failed part. Without those, he could be anyone, with any motive imaginable.

hey gordo is a pretty honest guy, in his defense I really doubt he is exagerating or lying in any way. I wouldn't brand him just yet.

I'd also like to see pictures. Are you sure the failure was not FROM the crash, and something else is the culprit? I've seen the radius arm fail in a crash before, in more than one brand fyi. Do you have failsafe set to idle on your throttle? Always a good way to tell if it is a radio issue rather than a part issue.

I think everyone appreciates someone bringing a failure to light, but I've gotta be honest, your post is just short of maniacal bro. I just watched a TON of flights of the 600 at IRCHA, all on stock machines, and I don't recall seeing this failure before. Lots of diffrent reasons that parts fail, from manufacturer to end user issues. I went ahead and GROUNDED my 600 today for you, however. It was unintentional however, due to a BEAUTIFUL inverted auto .. that extended just a WEE bit too long.

The two of you are not even from the same country. What are you basing this on? Im not branding anyone im just cautioning against believing everything you read with no proof. With as much bad information as there is especially on this forum, you need to back up a report like this with some pictures at the very least.

Wait a minute.. if the radius arm DID fail in flight, would it just go off in ONE direction? Would it go hard over quick, or slowly do so? What about it just wobbling? Anyone know?

Was it the radius arm ITSELF that failed? Or the washout arm? You say radius arm ball link, so I am assuming the radius arm itself... Can you be specific as to where the failure was at on the arm? I have a manual sitting in front of me on page 6, so if you can, be more specific.
