gordo high Senior Heliman Location: down yonder in the south
My Posts This: Topic Forum | I just went out front to my driveway to hover my trex 600 and boy did I have a close call. (I do Have the video of this but at this time do not have a way to transfer this to my laptop that I use to go online, and need a site to host it)).
OK, here's what happened. I spooled up, checked my throttle and cyclic, started to throttle up and take off and the heli lifted for a half second and DOVE violantly to the left. I was in awe, and couldn't even believe my eyes.
The reason was a faulty raidus arm ball link!!! Holy crap, I could have killed someone. The video is unbelievable, and will work on getting it out to the public. Anyway, the ball link broke at a cold joint, (where the plastic flows together from both ends of the mold, and when it meets each other it has cooled too much and did not bond together properly).
Anyway, I think the whole 600 fleet should be grounded, mostly from a safety stand point (when you see the video you will understand). Secondly, even if your'e in an open safe place, had the heli went backwards, it would have done major harm.
Align, please contact me because I am not streatching the truth at all!!!You need to see the video and act accordingly because this is extremely dangerous.
I don't start many topics, but this one is important!
Not going to say more,(for now), but align needs to comment, and think about safety...!!
EDIT: Here is the link posted on the second page that MrMel has hosted for me http://www.dacsa.net/heli/t600failure2.wmv
