Stratus

If Ricks calls me and tells me that they have an extra N9 for me I may sell my Stratus. If anyone is interested please let me know. It has the 8:18 ratio and has less than 5 gallons of fuel thru it. It flys and looks great... It was a Stratus kit not an extreme conversion

I really want to see a spare parts list for the Synergy, before I make a final decision

N9

XLFLyer

If you get one, let me know. I would like to check it out...

BTW the Stratus is easy to maintain as long as you do not crash it

The more I think about the more I have decided that I am going to keep my Stratus. Hell I might even find a few in the Classified for sale cheep and pick them up as spares They are not the newest helicopter out but they are very nice and can outfly me 10 times over...

I don't understand people that want to change from Stratus to the new N9. Do you really think there is noticible difference in flight perfomance between the two? I don't think so.
I do understand people that want to upgrade from Raptor or Freya or other less capeable 3d helis.

Have a nice day :)

I think it is an issue of a more durable airframe then the MA as well as easier to maintain and build. I am betting that the N9 will be cheaper to fix and I am guessing that there will be better parts availability. I know some of you guys think MA is the end all however; there is no support in Colorado and Kirk can back me up on this.

Kirk I think I will get the Aurora I might buy an N9 for a second 90 however, the Stratus is permanently off the list!

I wouldn't think of buying a Stratus or Vibe with these two, Aurora and N9, on the market. I know both machines fly well, but the Vibe and Stratus are expensive to repair and the Stratus has too many parts.

I really like the look of the Aurora, but I think I'll go with the N9 because the parts are less expensive and it looks like it's very easy to maintain.

I just bought a Trex 600 and it went together quick and easy. I like that.

I'm not saying to get the Vibe or Stratus instad of N9. I'm saying I don't see the need to upgrade to N9 if you allredy have Vibe or Stratus.

Have a nice day :)

N9

IAF,

The thing I like on the N9 that the Stratus (or any of the others) does not have is the plastic motor mount. I know a lot of people think that this is a downgrade but I actually like the idea of having a plastic motor mount and would like to buy an N9 to test it out. As time goes on I believe that manufactures will find ways to mount the motors in a way that does not transmit all of the motors vibes to the airframe. The N9 appears to be the first to do this on purpose.

Matt,

For the MA products I have gotten support from Dwane who is one of the MA reps in our state. You are right though no hobby shops out here carry MA. I will say that when the MA machines are flying good they are a blast to fly up here at our altitude. I have personally seen 2 other guys that I fly with buy MA machines after flying mine.

As far as costs go I have no idea which will cost the least to fix. Every wreck is different. I know the last time I crashed my stratus I only took out a set of landing gear and messed my canopy up a bit. It cost me 30 dollars, but the last crash on my R50 cost me $150 dollars. Both were similar probs in the air, I just got lucky with one when I put it in and not so lucky with the other one

Spares list is out

Gentlemen, Now that the spares list is out....... It's pretty obvious that it's not that cheap to fix an N9 either which shows that it's not that cheap to build these things. Not to mention M/A isn't overcharging for parts as much as some people claim. As far as parts support goes.... It's only a click away on the computer for anything nowdays. So I think that is pretty much irrelevant. Most hobby shops cant afford to stock heli specific parts unless there is the local flying population to support their buisness which in most cases there just isn't enough support from the local flyers.

I have already seen in the classifieds:
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t271385p1/

and
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t270205p1/

These are very capable and nice helicopters capable of more than 99% of us can dish out. Sold at a serious loss. I'm not assuming it's to buy a N9 or Aurora however it's a strange coincidence that they are showing up now more than ever. If nothing else the N9 and Aurora have been driving the cost down for us. I for one just don't have an extra three grand to just toss around so I can't justify losing money on what I already have just to have the "new" top of the line heli.

It will be interesting to see how much cheaper the parts will be for the Synergy. I am surprised that they haven't released this information yet considering the launch of the kit is in 2 weeks and announced the price of the kit.

If the are really low in price then it would not suprise me if min air dropped their parts prices to try and compete although you will have more parts th buy if the unthinkable happens.

If I'm not mistaken isn't it the VAT and all that which causes the prices to be so high for you? I'm pretty sure the price for a part from M/A is the price for a part no matter where it gets shipped. I don't think M/A would charge Ricks say $15 for a main shaft and turn around and sell it to your distributor in the UK for $25 just because that is where you are. However your distributor most likely makes you incur any and all the overhead costs that he has to pay for shipping and import taxes etc. That should be the only things your prices reflect. M/A shouldn't have any control of that from here. Correct me if I am wrong please.

I just found the parts list on the Synergy website under the downloads section: http://www.synergyrc.com/download.html

Some of the prices are fair however, I think I was under the assumption that the N9 was supposed to be the Raptor killer and it was going to list near the Raptor 90 price and have repair costs near the Raptor. Looking at the list some are close however, most look like they are in the Stratus range? This combined with the estimated $1,000 price tag, at Rick's, for the G-10 frames, and plastic makes you wonder if the N9 is that good of a deal. From feedback it sounds like it flys very well and from the photos it looks easy to maintain. I can remember my first Fury Expert which had G-10 frames for $650.00! I personally think the G-10 version should have been around $800 and the carbon version around $950. I guess we will see however, I think the prices may be a little steep for what you are getting? I think the Aurora is starting to look like a better deal listing for under $1,000.

There are bigger reason than you think for the plastic bearing holders and the G10 frame set. Vibration damping and shelding the signal from the reciever. Thats just my under standing.

I understand the reasons for why they used the listed materials however, these are cheaper materials cost wise, and this should be reflected in the price! CNC verse injection molding there is a large difference here! An injection-molded part might cost .30 cents and take seconds to make several parts where you may have a machine mill a part for several minutes with expensive tooling. I still think the price is to high for this version of the N9 especially when the Aurora comes with a full cnc head, bearing blocks and frame spacers, carbon frames and tail boom for under $1,000.

I think the N9 is a very nice heli however, it is priced incorrectly.
