My Posts This: Topic Forum | Hey Fred 1,
Barry from Long Island here. Thought I'd pay my two cents on this topic. For starters (just so you know were I'm comming from) you
should know I'm totally won over by the Logo machines. Also all my
helis are electric, from a Piccolo up to an L14. My club (on the other hand is mainly glow fuel and who's isn't). So I often get this
question from the few guys that want a big ole E-heli.
One of our guys got the Trex600 and insisted on running as stock on the 6 cell setup. The machine is built well, and flies ok this way,
but if you ask him about it, he'll still say my glow has more power--and so now this is his perception of a Big E-heli. A perception which IMHO, is just plane WRONG .....! I do have some objections
to the overall design of the TREX, and the way they have limited to some degree our motor selection options. These also something a bit
smelly about the way they hired two world class pilots and spent tons on marketing to try and convince the world that their approch is the
way to go. Again all of us that have flown on 8 -12 series setups
DO KNOW BETTER ........! ( huuum, might have an issue here .. : ) )
On the other end of things, what did TT do ..? Well.. they very quitely found a good German designer ( and lets face it the Germans do seem to know E-helis best ), and from all apperances seem to have come up with a design that seems much more flexible and better thought
out. To my eye it appeares much more Logo-essk ,,! Ha ! Ha ! not to mention ( and this will be very important to many of my glow fuel buddies ) many of the new TT's parts are already in peoples junk boxes
and on dealers racks.
So I think in a nut shell, anyone asking the topic question--at the very least-- needs to wait and hear the initial reports on the new TT.
God knows, if there's money in my hands I'll have a 620SE flying on
10S x 4000mAs by the end of the year.
Happy Flying !
Barry
