Nice flying. There is no question that this guy can fly.

It would have been better if it was done away from the spectators. There is no need to take such risk just to show off.

I saw Yuri fly at the XFC and was impressed, but there is simply no excuse for flying a model like that as recklessly as he did. It would have been a great place to bust out a 10 ounce depron 3D plank, but there is no justifing the dangers that were miraculouly avoided in that video. The best pilots cannot save a model from or prevent the occational mechanical error.

wow, 2008 was a crappy year! Oh well, I'm goin flying :)

To all who complained about this video, maybe you should take an 8x10 piece of paper and make a fold up airplane to throw around and hey, if thats all it takes to get you going, then chances are thats all you need! I have to say that if helis werent dangerous they would be very little fun! And to reiterate what was said in an earlier post, This pilot IS A WORLD CHAMPION!! Which is something not many can even begin to understand! Lastly, human nature is such that the croud will always be watching the insane maneuvers of the very few qualified pilots where as the guy with the paper fold-up plane will be flying alone. Its just the way it is!

CrzHk: No amount of 1337skillz are going to help you if the guy a few doors down flicks his radio gear on, or is going to help move a large group of drunk people out if it's path.

People who use the "you can get killed on you way to work" argument as some sort of logical reasoning to excuse something of a high risk are simply idiots. It's all about the LEVEL of risk, not if there is a risk. Hover a large plane like that in a small, crowded place full of drunk people in a urban area poses a much higher risk than doing the same thing at the airfield with your flying buddies.

I'm not saying this guy should be locked-up in jail or anything, just that you are a fool if you don't accept that what he did was much more dangerous that it needed to be.

Point taken, but if you play the what if game all the time you are probably missing out and simply being paraniod. Life gives us many examples of this. Many have called me an idiot because I continuously push the limit with whatever I do and yet I am unaffected. Adrenalin is free to whomever has the cahoonas to grab some! And I say grab all you can.
People do get hurt or even killed everyday by the simplest unexpected accidents and this is unfortunate. When it is your time, its your time. People always look back on accidents and come up with things that could have happened different and yet the end result is always going to be the same.

precludes me from enjoying this hobby because somebody got hurt, and now the RC community gets regulated to the point it was 50 years ago.

If some IDIOT, does something STUPID, why do I have to pay for it? That is all that we are trying to discuss here. But probably you all are too young to know that even 20 years ago the RC community was a PRIVILEGE to those with a HAM license.

Hell, I know of some clubs that won't let you fly alone until you have demonstrated the ability to control your aircraft.

Accidents happen, I take that, there is no discussion about it. But risking your friends' health and MY RIGHT to enjoy this hobby is not part of this discussion.

Maybe some of the people in favor of the guy in the video need to move for a few months to another country, where the liberties we take for granted here are not as easy to obtain..
