Before I drill the 3 mounting holes I got a sheet of paper with some updates and it says to mount canopy towards the front to give room for air to get to the motor and allow for proper heli balance and battery placement.
The back or rear edge of each side of canopy will come inline with the balls on each side of the swashplate. Also says the bottom hole will be about 1 1/16 inch back from where the flat starts on the bottom of the canopy
.

Well if thats true then it looks like the molded bumps marking where you would have drilled the two side holes will be about 1 inch farther forward. Or drill the two side holes about 3/8 inch in from the back of the canopy. Which is moved forward quite a bit.

Im not drilling till you guys tell me where yours is.

Dennis,

I have the fiberglass canopy on mine so I am unfamiliar with the proper hole placement on the new canopy. However, after making a mistake the first go around, I found that locating the front hole (under the nose) first made it a lot easier to properly place the two side holes. If you look in my gallery, you will see a couple of pics of my 8 next to my 16. The side hole that is lower and to the rear is my mistake hole with a nut and bolt in it (to "hide" the hole). I had to do this on both sides because I made the side holes first on my first attempt.

Good idea. Will take your advise on the bottm hole first.

Maybe I should move more forward than the bumps show for balancing.

Henrys right. do the bottom first, use a flashlight, dont necessarily trust the indents, and try fitting your battery(s) in there to make sure they will clear.

Yes DO NOT drill the holes in the side where the dimples are, right where you would think you're supposed to, the holes are about 3/4 inch farther back. I think.
My canopy backed up into the frame cross pieces on the bottom, I started with the center hole also. The the canopy can be flexed open and rocked back until it's right where it should be, and you'll see exactly where to mark your holes by the flexing dimple.
