Another thing is that the hover pitch/throttle levers have
no 'disable' so you need to be careful that they are always
centered in N mode.

I always make sure my levers are fully down. If you don't, they add a rather weird non-linear exponential around center stick. But it really doesn't affect me too much as I always fly in Idle-up mode anyway. The levers only work in Normal mode and are disabled in any of the Idle-up modes.

I only use Normal to spool up, then switch to Idle-up to take-off, fly and land.

As computer transmitters go, the O-6 may very well be the best of the best. Besides what comes with the BCP, and what I used to fly slope soarers back in the early 70's, it's the only TX I've tried.

Having said that, I was totally underwhelmed by their quality control and customer service. I would not repeat my purchase.

Brand new I had to foot the bill to send it back, and it took nearly three weeks on it's vacation to San Diego.

By comparison, my 2 year old Nikon D70 was back from Melville NY in less than seven days, repaired, cleaned and serviced with the latest firmware at no charge. It took that long to get a postcard from Hitec telling me to be patient. LOL. Did I mention it had been out of warranty for a year?

Be aware that Hitec never recalled a known defect in the early firmware. According to them, it "only" affected 1 in 100 radios. But they're still on dealer shelves, waiting for YOU to get them fixed. Or live with Model 1 disappearing at random. Or dig through their online forums to find a workaround from other disgruntled owners.

Hitec? I'd look at them again, after I've tried all the others.

Cheers,
George

For those who don't fly idle-up like Brent, I understand epoxy works well to disable those annoying pitch-throttle levers.

If a duck flies inverted, does it quack up?

DX6

Ill go with Captain Chaos on this one. I have flown with both the optic 6 and the DX6. for the Blade cp the dx6 is the better choice ....its lighter and the servos come with it for the same price are not that bad.
also it is glitch free and that is amazing. I use it on the Trex I have and im thinking of changing my Blade cp to the DX6 soon.
The Optic 6 has more features but some I wont miss like the timer... I could not hear it anyway.
