Hi Guys,

I never thought that I was going to buy a Glow Heli but to be honest as much as I hate Glow I need to get a Glow Heli cuz I feel that my learning curve is getting stucked because with my Electric helis my flights are limited to 5-8 minutes and 4 per day , I need an IC heli so I can fly longer and more flights , in the other hand I'm finishing a Gasser but that ship is for AP.

I'm getting a 90 and I already decided that I want a Hirobo but my question is , Is the X-Spec with the Evo Head a better deal @$850 than the Evo @ $620 ?, either way I'm going with a YS and Hatori Pipe.

Let me know what do you think , I don't have any experience with Hirobo's.

Thanks,

epc2.

You already mentioned flight times the std EVO has 10% more fuel capacity. THe EVO flies grat bone stock. If you had an X-Spec I would recomend you get the EVO head but buying a new machine I would spend the $220 on fuel. (unless you really like the looks of the blinged carbon frames)

I would go for the XSpec with Evo head

Those carbon frames are $100 each side

The XSpec also has these:
Metal rails under the carbon frames
Third bearing block
Blue bling fan hub
Blue bling one piece engine mount
Alloy one way bearing housing
Blue bling radius and washout blocks
Delrin counter gear

That's a lot of $ worth in upgrades for free

The only thing a XSpec with a Evo head does not have,
is the new clutch with three bearing in the stack
(not a big deal really)

Depends on what $200 is worth to you...

Have you thought about the Evo 50 instead of the 90? It has a lot going for it at much less of a price tag, and it will do everything that the 90 does. Also, the 50 is a lot better on fuel consumption.

American Version of the EVO comes with
3rd bring block
Blue Bling Radious block
HD one way (although I have read about poeple having probems)
$30 side frames (Either on can be broken in a crash)
Eagle "easy center" flywheel.
Fuel tank grouments that actually hold the tank in.

X-spec also comes with some very nice CF fins.

It all depends on your budget You cannot go wrong with either deal.

Evo-Spec

Make one...spend the extra dough (still less than R90 or Stratus) and get the currently available X-Spec boxed with the EVO head. It actually still has the SSZ-II X-Spec head in the box, too. They threw the plastic EVO head in for free, essentially.

I, myself had two X-Specs when the Evo came out. Having heard all the hype about the Evo head, I decided to get one for my contest bird...except I went a little further...I got the whole nine yards in metal from Hong Kong. See pic below.

I made a couple mods to make it more applicable to F3C style flying, namely to add spacers to the grip pitch arms and move the bell mixers to the other side of the carrier. This provides uncorrecting delta, needed to stabilize FAI Hovering maneuvers in the wind. See pic below.

Like said earlier, there is a reason the X-Spec is a couple hundred more. The 600cc tank is only $20, and is a direct drop in replacement. The X-Spec comes standard with the metal collective T lever, METAL ONE WAY HUB, and a few other niceties. It is a better spec'd machine than the straight Evo.

Have fun!

So the X spec comes with the two heads!!! if that's the case I'm sold cuz I need to get a 90 head for a Project that I have of streching my Xero G 600 EP to 700EP and I can use the X spec Head for that.

Do you know if the X spec comes with the metal radius block??

Thanks and nice looking machine,

Yep, the X-Spec Evo comes with all the goodies. I have an X-Spec that I converted to an Evo head. Very nice bird!

Guys,

One thing that I don't like is that it looks like the Evo and Xspec comes with a plastic swashplate?? How does it works.

I'm going to get the heli in a few days and I was decided on the Xpec with Evo head , but I see that a metal swash is $150 so If I get an Xspec and upgrade it to a metal swash I'll be spending 1k about the same price of a Stratus or Vibe!!!!!

What do you you think?

How expensive are the spare parts compared to the other 90 helis???

Thanks ,

epc2.

Spares for an Evo or X-Spec are nothing compared to MA or in some cases, TT.

The Swash on the Evo/X-Spec are half n half, and hold up pretty well. I personally upgraded to the Quick UK swash on my contest bird mostly for the added precision. You won't miss it in normal 3D flying. It's only $75.

Cheers,

Erich

Uhmmmm, That's $75 Extra for the 93/11, is there a big difference in torque If I use the 7.91 with a YS.

so why don't you just spend the $1500 it will cost you to buy a nitro heli with engine and radio acc. on batteries for your elec? (not to mention all the money you will burn on fuel!) You can get 5 batteries and a 4-batt charger and fly all day for about $350-$400 (t-rex)

7.92 and YS

I have been using thee 7.92 ratio on my Contest X-Spec and it's smoother, faster, and quieter. The YS makes it's power down around 15K. Try the stock ratio first. Changing to 8.45 is easy if you desire.
