My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Homemade training gear for the blade cp anyone done it? Yesterday I went out and bought a blade cp but the lhs did not have the training gear in stock, they said to make some.... but no explanation on how....

Being a guy and having a new heli to play with I went ahead and went to work on flying the new cp. needless to say that a real cp is a bit harder to get the hang of then the realflight one ( I can run the sim all day with problems.... helps when it doesn't cost money or downtime when you crash) Anyhow I chewed through my first set of blades in a day and a half and am going to put on the second after i finish this post. SO I think for my sanity I need some training gear, any help with this little project would be greatly appreciated...

BTW I watched all the videos by cyclicpitcher they were a great help in setting up for us newbies.... Thank you for them.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Buy 4 ping pong balls and 2 carbon fiber rods and it should work out fine. Just cut holes through the center of all the ping pong balls and fish one on each end of the carbon fiber rods. Then secure them with CA glue. Then tie both rods together in an X with 2 small tieclips and attach all of this to the skids of your heli with either tie clips or electric tape

When I first started flying (before I bought a simulator also) I was crashing like crazy. The stock training gear was giving me trouble with a lot of blade strikes to the ground. So my buddy made me super size training gear. If I came down sideways I wouldn't destroy the blades. It actually worked very well. Used dowel rods and foam balls so it was still very lite. :D Looks dumb and not very cool but saved me a lot of blades during my training period.

I only used these for about a week Now my training gear is only 5' accross instead of the 6'(just kidding) I started with No seriously it did help. I really had a hard time learning as I have never flew anything rc when I bought my heli. I was about to give up altogather when he came up with this idea. I have to laugh now looking back at the pictures.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Well just keep at it then, is very funny looking but if it works it works...Just 1 day at a time and 1 foot shorter, so in a few weeks you should be down to a normal sized trainer and back in buizness, then one day you can lose the wheels and do some inverted

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Yea it looks stupid. I haven't used any training gear for about three months now. Haven't inverted yet but I think I could if I get the nerves up to do it. I have no problem doing it on the sim. But real life is a little scarier.

all i can say is it worked for you....and others might benifit from it...I did almost the same on my QJ8, but used 1/4" threadded rods and foam balls...looked silly but helped me and i dont care what others think...personaaly i LOVE IT!...

now i finally have all the training wheels removed from my birds...recon im getting the hang of this!..

i got a set (10 bucks) for the blade and they are perfect...id recomend just spend the few bucks...heck, i used the same on trex's in the beginning!

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		thanks for the help.... I made a set out of bamboo skewers heat shrink tubing to join the skewers and 4 ping pong balls..... works like a champ...... Not quite as large as JNG's LOL but it is working out great.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Honestly, I had training wheels on my First TREX for about ohhh 22 seconds as I had never flown a heli before and set it up myself and realized F THIS, lets do it, took em off and put the thing in the air.



As with the CX I guess I just kept getting it 2 inches higher by the second until I gave it real throttle...A CX doesn't become stable till its at least 3 feet off the ground outside, inside at least 4 feet, so those training balls would redeem worthless on a CP, however on a TRex they would work great

They helped me when I first started flying. I kept tilting the heli too far to the left or right and had a tendency to flip the heli on it's side (I was using way too much stick movement when I was a newbie) The gear also helped me when I was landing. If I came down a little tilted (like almost on it's side) the heli would still land flat.
