Dan let me ask if you put the black washer that comes with the os 50 engine on before the fan , Cause that washer is not used and if you put that black washer you will have that problem , or unless you have the older ghobee 50 that had problems of this nature. scott

I had a older shipped out stinger 50 with the fan problem and i did have to take some material off the top of the fan, they also shipped me a new fan but that was last year around this time, is yours the older unit, i work at a machine shop so i just ran the mill across the top of the fan about 3mm, you can call gohbee and see if the will ship you out a new one, you wont be able to run the heli with the clutch hitting , i know its a pain but when you get this issue worked out you will love the stinger, i have 1 stinger 50 and a stinger 90, had to sell one of the 50 to afford the 90. do me a favor if you can measure the top part of the fan where it is made of alumnum and tell me how much the distance or how thick it is.

well thats odd the new fan i have in my tool box is the same, 19 mm from the plastic bottom to the top , could any thing else be in the way, now here is what i did to mine that iam still flying,,,,dident feel like waiting a week for the new fan. i used a raptor 30 fan and yes i know its shorter to, i stacked washers under the fan till i was at the right hight with the clutch not hitting the top of the clutch bell, after getting the new fan i just never put the new one in, i figured why fix it if it works. You could also try usine a raptor 50 but you would need to be around 4 mm shorter on the whole thickness of the fan compared to the gohbee fan or make sure the fan just dose not hit the clutch bell.some things to try. scott

Are you getting to the bottom of the thread on the OS crank? I remember on my .50 hyper I had to REALLY tighten that bugger (fan) down. It is VERY important that you use a crank lock tool and not a piston lock when tightening. Also run a coupla screws into the top of the fan and use a screwdriver as a cheater bar.

I went through the same thing and I had an older fan. I got that swapped out and badda bing, pretty much the same thing. I took it apart and reassembled and got it good and tight and it was smooth sailing. You might try running the crank nut on first to clean out the threads all the way to the bottom.

Uhhhh, I had one of the early original kits and I did a bit of elongating on the motor mount holes. The later kit I bought didnt require it but I did have a time getting the fan in but I got it in as per the instructions I already posted. Out of curiosity, is this a new kit?

I'd call David and ask him what the deal is. If the fan you have is too big then he'll swap it no problem. Even when I got the fan swapped it was still a tight fit, seems like they'd lop off another mill or 2 just to make it easier.

Good call. I don't why they make those at such a tight tolerance. When its all bolted up theres no slop anyway.
