Ok, after a few days of hovering my hummingbird v4, I finally started flying it around with ease. After three bateries of good flying I decided I would take it up one more time. Then it happened as it passed in front of me I saw the red light come on. I realized the battery was going dead. I turned him around & started bring it down. Then it went full power & banked right hard....inverting it. All I could do was cut the motor & watch him fall. Amazingly enough all that broke was the head stiffner & a landing gear strut. Once I get the parts it will be flying again. Does anybody have any recomendations for a battery meter? Something that can be seen easily. I was kind of heartbroken about the crash, but it was expected. I knew coming into this hobby I was going to crash sometime. Altogether though, it was a great learning experience.

Sorry to hear about the crash. set an timer to fly to limit yourself on how much time you fly one battery. This is better for the batteries.

famous last words of many a downed bird.

for future reference neither this phrase, nor the 'C' word (synonymous and rhyming with CASH) should never be uttered at the flying field, on this forum or in the presence of another pilot or model

as far as a meter, nothing beats the good ol timer. that's all i use.

sorry about the mishap.

if it ain't broke…break it.

Hi all,

Sorry to hear of your mishap. Glad you did not destroy too much. I use the timer function on my radio and just check the elasped time as I fly.

Before I had a radio with this function, I used my kitchen timer and set it to 10min. I had one that beeped every five minutes, I found this helpful to save my lipos.

Cheers,
Leslie

All better now.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will fly with a timer from now on. Everything is fixed & the hummingbird is flying again.
