My Posts This: Topic Forum | I love my 3dpro('s, I have a couple ) but I can feel your pain on the QC. I've had much better luck with the Align stuff, and much better service from Horizon with faulty parts on items I purchased.
I think I said if before that the Blade Cp has a much better fit and finish than the 3dpro.
I agree wholeheartedly that they should be quick to send out replacements for faulty parts right out of the box. I think its just the nature of the heli business that they probably get so many claims agains these things that its hard to separate the wheat from the chaffe so to speak. I haven't even bother to call them on a couple of issues but one of the representatives that post here offered to send me some new 3dpro blades based on a post I made here and I thought that was pretty cool (here's a snippet from the PM)
Hi TommyB
Belt drive system...on the drawing board. A future product but currently no ETA.
I'll be sending a set out a new pair of 3D Pro blades to you today.
unfortunately this was probably close to a month ago and I've gotten loads of other Hummy parts from GrandRC in the meantime (they are awesome by the way).
All things considered the 3dpro has been worth it for me to tinker with, but you really shouldn't have to.
I further agree with the notion that it flies great stock although the metal main grips are ultimately a necessity if you want the full range of pitch. The tail grips, slider and control arm are adequate, but hokey at best. I just added some fuel tubing between the large metal washer and the damper bushing on the head and it was definitely a penny well spent.
The thing I'm most impressed with is the durabilty. I've not had a real hard crash yet, but with the exception of the crown gear, I haven't broken any of the parts that are supposed to break easy. I've replaced a grip, a main shaft, tail blade and maybe three crown gears at this point. The main gears, landing gear, feathering shafts, tail parts, blades, frame etc., are all extremely durable in comparison to the Blade CP, or the T rex for that matter.
On a per flight and/or per crash basis, and given the total cost of a complete rtf setup, the 3dpro is the best value going if you want to fly a decent CP micro. And its a blast to fly around in small spaces.
