Nice Heli! Just a note, watch that exhaust to fuel tank line, it looks like it could possibly get caught in your throttle arm linkage. Might want to route it underneath the MP2.

Where did you get the cool blue fuel line?

I will second the vote for the GV-1 over the TJ pro, the GV1 is a lot more user friendly IMO.

How is the GV-1 better than the TJ Pro? Have you had both? what are the differences?

The GV-1 has a readout on it and you can scroll through all the parameters and set them as you like. The TJ pro uses blinking led's as signals when setting it up. You can't just punch in a target rpm with the TJ pro like you can with the GV1, among many other differences. Some say the GV-1 is harder to set up initially but I don't agree with that.

Of course there are pro's and cons for both as I am sure others will chime in with thier own experiences with these governers. I will most certainly be buying another GV-1 for my next heli.

I run a GV1 and my buddy runs a TJ pro (which died last weekend and is replacing it with a GV-1) so I have been around them both.

Cool thanks for the reply, so main benefits are that you dont need to use a tachometer to set rpm on the GV-1, can you set the rpm from the transmitter with the GV-1 or do you need to shut the engine down and input it on the GV-1 on the machine? Also you said people say its hard to set the GV-1 up i have just downloaded the instructions for the GV-1 and to be honest haven't got a clue what the settings are on there , i understand about 2 of them and theres like 50 something settings for a governer can that be right?

GV1 is about twice the price of the TJ products, and a few years old now, oh, and heavier!

I think the rpm can be adjusted from the transmitter if you have enough channels on your radio to do it, the motor does not need to be shut down to adjust the rpm when changed manually.

Setting up the gv1 can be intimidating for some I guess, but I didn't really have any problems with it after playing around with it for a bit. There are a lot of different settings on the GV-1 and a lot of them you wont use unless you will be using the mixture control function that will automatically adjust your main needle valve on your motor for mixture adjustments on the fly. It has so many settings because it allows you to use it in many different ways, dont let all the setting options intimidate you.

It is true that the gv1 is a little more expensive that the TJ pro. Right now the GV-1 is about $160 and the TJ pro is around $85 as priced today from Heliproz. The thing that you dont see is that the TJ Pro works the best with a high speed, high dollar servo. Add the price of say a Futaba 9254 servo($109.00 from heliproz) to the TJ pro price and the GV 1 is definetly cheaper. The GV1 works great with about any "middle if the road" servo such as a JR ds811 which is less that half the price of a Futaba 9254. To me, the price difference without adding the servo doesn't mean squat. I would rather have the ease of use and the many options that the GV1 allows.

The weight difference between the two governers is probably less than a half ounce, not enough of a difference to sway the decision based on wieght.
