SAB 600mm fiberglass.

I was doing some high speed banks when suddently the heli started vibrating a lot!

I land immediately but didn't see anything loose. I check everything thouroughly and proceeded to burn the rest of the tank. On spool up the heli was vibrating again so I thought it was the dampeners or something else was bent (spindle, main shaft etc). I packed my stuff and went home.

Upon cleaning the heli, I found that one of the blades has one big crack under it.

Look like the blade couldn't handle the flexing and cracked? I've never heard of something similar before...

I'll post some pics later when I get home.

that could of been teh end your heli, you must of realy gave it hell for it to do that,
sounds like a rare thing to happen, i would of thought that teh sab's were able to handle hard flyin

I could see that happening with SAB glass blades in hard turns in high speed flight.

I did the same thing on my Vigor with NHP razors, doing very fast and tight turns. The outcome was somewhat more costly than yours.

I've heard blades do twice as much the sound mine were doing when doing the high speed turns. I never thought the blade could crack like that. Maybe its time to upgrade to carbons

I had a set of SABs on my TRex and they did the same thing. I was flying around at the house and they were fine. Took it out to the park and did some aerobatics, did a flip and heard a sharp crack.

I landed and one of the blades was cracked about 10mm from the root bolt. Align replaced them but I sold them off when they came in.

The funny thing is that I've been flying like that fow a whole week with my Shuttle doing even harder turns. It also has SAB fiberglass blades but these seem to be holding fine.

Well, back to the Shuttle until I get some new 600mm

Could it be that the grips were to tight I have had several people tell me my blades were to tight? I was wondering because kind of makes since it was so tight it couldn't give some and broke?

Typically when your blades are really tight you'll hear a popping sound during spool-up as the blades move in the grips to reach center. Tight grips won't cause the blades to break.
