I'm getting PM's and people asking how much, why, where can I buy, etc... to power a 50 size e-heli.

Here you go:

If I would re-do my e-raptor 50 or a new T-Rex 600 from scratch, I would do the following : (all new prices from online vendors)

T-Rex 600 kit only: $479
http://www.readyheli.com/index.php?...products_id=445

or

TT Raptor 50 Titan kit only: $409
http://www4.mailordercentral.com/he...p?number=101450

Z50-600 motor/86T main gear/eCCPM kit: $209
http://www.tppacks.com/products.asp?cat=17

CC 85-HV: $179
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...p?&I=LC3588&P=1

Futaba 3151 cyclic (x3): $75
http://www.readyheli.com/index.php?...products_id=165

e-Moli cells for 2 packs of 12S @ $14/cell: $336 + wiring/TP taps/etc.. $380
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=514378

GY401 w/9254: $219
http://www.readyheli.com/index.php?...products_id=116

TP2010/210 charger/balancer: $289
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=g_TP1010

Iota 55amp power supply: $129
http://parts.rctoys.com/rc-toys-hobbies/Items/849342?

Total price for an insane electric 50 heli that you can fly all day :

$1,889

Under $1,900 for a completely brand new RTF with everything you need setup for a 50 e-heli to fly like this is incredible.

(watch 100 meg video of Alan hauling it around on Gary's site

**** note: if you want to run Thunder Power prolite's instead of the e-moli cell packs, add-on another $700-800 to the price.

**** Charger/PS/Bal substitutes :

Astro 109 charger : $119
http://www.readyheli.com/index.php?...products_id=119

TP210 balancer : $90
http://www.readyheli.com/index.php?...products_id=364

Ripmax 20amp charger : $59

Best add another $100 or more for a Rx, well I prefer PCM in helis. So now it's basically $2k and still only 2 flights on a trip to the flying field.

I got my JR8103, several tools, CF blades and fuel included in the $1500 total for my glow powered Raptor 50. I bought almost everything needed with that heli short of the glow igniter and starter which I already had. Let's just say that the stuff I just leisted retailed for only $400, I know that's on the low side. That would be a difference of $900. That's an awful lot of glow fuel, a supply of glow fuel that would last longer than the batteries for the eRaptor would I bet.

Chris Wish I was flying!

This is not a comparison or nitro vs. electric topic, so please keep the nitro/glow out of here as it has no relevance as per the title of this thread.

I have had people ask me what a high-end electric 50 such as the upcoming T-Rex 600 and a converted e-Raptor 50 would cost.

This is a viable option.

Absolutely nothing to do with glow/nitro.

I think for a more accurate price you should only include one 12s eMoli pack ($200 vs your $380). NOT include the price for a charger and power supply ($290 and $130). You can charge batterys in two 5s packs arrangements etc.. and get away with using exisiting chargers/supplys.

So that would show a savings of appox. $600 from your $1900 which would come out to appox. $1300

$1300 for a great setup 50 size Heli (you pick the manufactuer) with tons of power (7min flight time of hard 3D) is a great bang for the buck.

Edit: Add $100 for the RX.

but you can only fly one 10 mintue flight every 2 hours with your setup. With his you can fly all day with only a 10 minute break between flights (20 mintues/charge per pack).

No. I was asked my more than one person to provide an accurate price of a RTF WITH charger/balancer/power supply.

Yes you can cut costs, however the charger/balancer is really the only place. In regards to that, I would not cut costs as the TP2010/210 combo is the safest bang for the buck.

I mean safe as in, have you seen a 10S lipo pack blow up ? Believe me, it's not a pretty sight. Makes the small 3S1P 2100's seem like a little firecracker compared to a roman candle on crack.

Safe large lipo-lion charging = TP2010 or Schulze 636 WITH balancer/data cable.

If you run on a single 12S s-moli pack, then you are limited to an 8-10 min flight.

Who flies on one pack nowadays ?

That's why I listed 2 packs.

I fly two packs and it seems to be a good compromise for 15-20 of flight.

If you already have a power supply capable of supplying 25 amps to charge the TP 10/11/12 cell and moli 11/12 cells packs, then you can write that off, but most people do not. You will get an Input Voltage error on the charger if your power supply cannot handle the voltage/amperage output necessary to supply a steady rate for the required charge.

Well my Astro 109 ($100-$130) serves me just fine on my L10E (6s2p). Not everybody has to go to a field to fly for the day. I simple drive down to the closest corn field and fly then drive 2 minutes back home to charge and repeat when needed

I agree two packs is nice and the Tp charger is a nice unit but if price is an issue for some then its good to show both sides of the spectrum.

Just to clarify, everyone needs to understand the emoli cells aren't a product you just go buy. You have to buy the power tool battery pack, disassemble them and then solder the cells together. I realize this is within the skills of some, I'm not one of them! I'm sure these cells will find there way to rc eventually but they aren't here yet.
