I have about 5 years experience with electric and nitro helis so I am not a newbee. My first nitro was a Century Hawk and I had that performing well. I stepped up to a Gohbee 50 just a few months ago. I have all working well but the collective pitch is really messing with my mind.
In order to get the heli to fly correctly (when using the pitch gage) I have to static set the pitch about +12 on the top end and -8 on the bottom end and about +2 at 1/2 stick. At +12 the heli hovers at 3/4 stick (what I want) and has decent vertical ascent with no engine bog.
At -8 the heli tends to bog down and act like I have -12 pitch. In an inverted hover it tends to hover at a little under 1/2 stick (not good).
So, basically the heli pitch gage reads +12 to -8, but the heli flies like it is at +9 and -12!!!!!
I have nice carbon fiber blades, the engine is broken in and seems welled tuned. Fuel lines are new in and out of the tanks.
What gives??? Are my servos stalling on the top end and overtraveling on the bottom???? Can I be reading the pitch gage that incorrectly!!! I had no trouble setting it up on my Hawk.
Thanks,
Gary

Gary,

What blades are you using. Are they the MAH blades that came with the kit. I had the same problem with mine, but since switching to the TT Carbons I have been able to set it up with +10,0,-10 and it flies great. I don't know why it made a difference but it did.

When reading the pitch gauge it helps to lift the blade tip a little. It gives a more accurate reading. Same thing on my Evo but on my Stingers its more noticeable. I've had guys try tell me the feathering spindle was bent but I guess its in the thrust bearings.

Thanks

Thanks for the input.
I am flying V2 3-D blades.
I have rechecked my blade pitch. I re-centered the swash plate, etc and I put the pitch gage at different locations on the blade. I now have them at +10 -10 but have not been able to fly since then. Tonight I will go back and slightly lift the blade and take the measurement again to see if there is any difference. I may end up just setting it by "feel" in the air and then see what the reading comes out to be.
Other than that I have my first real flying experience with the Gohbee and it seems to work well. I have been doing some flips and stuff and it responds great.
Thanks,
Gary
