What's the trick to adding rivet detail on a scale 60 size heli?

I REALLY don't want to make each one out of a drop of whatever.... I'm looking for something a little sweeter, like maybe some kind of tape with the rivet beads on the tape? Such a thing exist? Any good if it does exist? Alternatives?

How do you guys do it? I'm knew to scale so please don't bust my chops too bad for asking too many stupid questions.

Also, can someone give me a link on where to by scale accessories like spotlights, nav lights, etc.?

Thanks,

Raymond

So, your ready to lose your mind?

Rivets can be done many ways, I use a product from Scale Skins. It is a perferated tape that is laid down on the rivet line and "glue" is smeared on and when the tape is remove you have uniform rivets. Vario sells a dry transfer type that I have used too. Do not use the type that require you to drill holes in the fibre glass, it weakens the fuselage.

Here is a great site for how to's by Mr Heli Top Gun, Peter Wales.

And another good one.

Rivets

I also have use rivets that I got from Scalehouse. They are molded plastic on a tree. They came on three sizes and you cut them off one by one and glue them on with CA. Very time consuming. I used a flex rule and marker to mark each location first, then stick a exacto knife point in one, touch it to a drop of CA and set it in place.

For lights check out electrotekrc

I called them today and they have a lot of new units that aren't on the webpage. Can make up anything you need with strobes, flashing lights, and landing lights. They are real helpfull and informative.

rivets...

I stumbled onto Vario's site this morning and found a roll of rivets, 1200 rivets on the roll I believe. Anyway, they say you can lay them down and burnish them in place and shoot some paint or clear on them to seal them.

They are spaced properly so all you have to do is cut it to length and lay it down where you want the rivet line.

It sound pretty simple to me and it's what I was looking for.

Thanks for the info and the links guys!

glue

I just stuck over 5000 rivits by the syringe and glue method in just over 6 hours over the weekend. this is my second ship that needed rivits and its almost the same one but it didnt take all that long. True that its not as perfect as a pre-made rivet head, but it works!! I used two sizes of needles. a large guage needle used to refill my printers ink cartriges and then a small 24 ga 1cc for smaller rivits. kind of hard to see on a white primer. but i didnt want to risk bleed through.
