Hi,

I am moving up from NiMh packs to LiPo packs. I have a schulze charger, and have been charging 2 12cell packs together for a total of 24cells.

When charging LiPo's can you charge two packs together, I have (2)5s4p 8000mah packs. My charger can do up to 11 LiPo cells.

Thanks alot

Curtis

(2)5s4p packs that are hooked up to make either a 10s4p (charge as 10s) or 5s8p (charge as 5s) can be charged as the combined pack.

oldboldpilot is correct. Hook them up in series and charge as a 10S pack. The only minor drawback is cell balance. There is a greater chance for imbalance on larger series packs. You can charge at a lower "C" rating, i.e. 1/2C and this will help. Or get a TP 10 cell balancer. If you have the Schulze 330d, I don't think it will allow you to charge a 10S8P at 1C anyways. If memory serves me, I think it maxes out at 5A when you have a 10S connected. Even though advertisements say it's a 8A, 11S charger. It's somewhat misleading, since it will do 8A and it will do 11S. Just not at the same time.

No, the 330 is a 5.5 Amp 11s charger. The 636 is the 8 Amp one, just to clarify. These are good chargers. It's just a shame that they can't be used with any of the "smart" balancers that are out there that connect to the charger.

Hi guys,
I would like to thank everyone for their information, I really appreciate it, If I balance both packs before charging and then charge at a slower rate, will this help in the balancing? Also can I, during the charging process, switch the balancer back and forth from the two packs to check on balance, or once I start charging I cannot put the balancer on a pack.

Thanks alot

Curtis

cwd10. I've had this charger for almost two years and I would have bet money that it was an 8 Amp charger. I just looked again and sure enough. It is only a 5.5 Amp charger. I stand corrected. Maybe I'm just wishing that I had the 636. Thanks.

That's ok, Chuck. I've hand plenty of those moments. I wish I had a 636 too.

Yes it will, but I don't know it it's a good idea to move the balancer back and fourth. Maybe someone else would know.
