Can we expect a standard plastic version of this kit?
What a silly thing, why in the world would you want to go with plastic crap? If it's price you're in wrong hobby, cheers.

Thanks for update.

The only limitation I see is the battery compartment.

Otherwise a very nice machine indeed.

With the emolis gaining popularity on "soft" lipos...this is where e-helis might be going.

Plastics?
There is cheap plastic and then there is strong plastic...what do you think plexiglass is made of? What about carbon injected plastic such as in the Swift among other brands?

For those with the budget, there are high-end electrics: Ion, Joker 2 at the large size, Logo 14 carbon, and, soon, the mini-Joker at the 50 size.

These helis fly with any nitro, and are built to last while doing it. Now apparently comes this 1 meter rotor diameter electric to the high-end mix..

Now, if you don't have the budget for three or four battery pack sets for these beauties, you will be flying either nitros in their sizes, or something electric, but smaller..

I believe Align is the leader of that pack..

OUIC812,

Try flying one of hirobo's "plastic crap" helis first.

Hirobo plastic is perfectly fine if it'll save me $300. Thats a motor and esc in itself.

Oh yeah, unfortunately I am on a budget. I'm 22 and working on two degrees...

Wow, what an awesome looking heli! Dang, definitely at the top of my list for a possible next heli.

It has been mentioned twice in the thread so far but I'm not sure anyone is listening... This heli might be the perfect size for making use of the eMoli cells which are cheap and robust. Another new cell will be out in the soon to be released DeWALT 36 Volt tools which should be even better than the eMoli cells.

I like it, I like it.

A123 maybe, eMoli, no way. Width cannot exceed 50mm and Height cannot exceed 37mm. Unless you want to strap it under the skids. www.36volt.com Looks so promising.

I find the fact that this Lepton is going to use 425mm main blades just plain silly. Why the heck could they not develop it to use blades allready in production and on the market, that is just retarded imho.

Because they designed it around a 3S 4000 mah lipo. Simple as that. It's a relatively empty market also, since the 2 known heli at this size (Voyager E, and Eco 8), are old and outdated.

For once and the first time, I am going to wait, let others find the extreme setup, plus hopefully by then someone will make a decent CF blade in this goofy size the Lepton will use.

Yep,

That's why I've decided to go with Logo 10 for now, and let Lepton and TRex 600 sort itself out first.

What the heck is the SWM control system the Lepton uses? Isn't ccpm good enough? What other helicopters use the SWM system?
