Hello,

My one is coming from Revolution Models although I understand that Midland Helicopters either had them today or will have them tomorrow.

I have been checking the websites for a while, it appeared on Revolution's this morning and this afternoon it was on the Midland site.

I don't know how many each shop has but I know one of Revolution's is now mine!

Hello,

Hopefully I should have everything required to fly it coming tomorrow (quite a scary amount of money involved!) and I would like to have it flying over the weekend.

I hope I have made the right choice of motor etc, I'll know soon enough.

Hello,

I will be using

JR 7 Channel S PCM Receiver
Three JR DS 362 Servos
Futaba GY401
Futaba 9650 Tail Servo
Kontronic 55 Amp Speed Controller
Medusa 5 Volt 3.5 Amp BEC
Hacker A30 10XL Motor
Flightpower 4S 1P EVO 20 flight packs

I think it should all be OK. Not cheap but it is cheaper than my Logo 10, primarily because the batteries cost £100 per pack compared to £260 for the Logo 10 packs.

Hello,

I actually don't think the helicopter is too badly priced relative to what else is available in the market.

The kit is not cheap but it is the top end model and no doubt the plastic version will be much more reasonably priced. I would rather have the ex as I believe the extra quality will be noticeable and adds realtively little to the overall cost, maybe £200 guessing at where the plastic version may be priced.

The motor was cheap, £62 which I think is really good. The speed controller I chose was £150 but I guess you get what you pay for, cheaper options are available.

The batteries are not too bad at £100 and I bought three which I consider to be the optimum number for me.

The receiver, servos and gyros are comparable to any other helicopter, the DS 362 are more expensive than what you may fit to a T-Rex but otherwise the cost is comparable.

Bearing in mind the weather we suffer in the UK, I would expect the Lepton to be more useable primarily due to its size. It will be easier to see at a distance and it should handle windy conditions better but not be so big as to make it unuseable anywhere but at a dedicated flying site. Its probably the perfect size for what these helicopters are intended for, I always thought that the T-Rex was a little small for outdoor use in the UK and maybe a little too intimdating for use indoors in anything but the largest of indoor flying venues.

Jeff,

It has been reported on another forum that it is very tail heavy and the batteries need to be shifted pretty far forward. What has your experience been?

How about using the 9254 instead of the 9650 to aid in the weight compensation.

That would just add more weight to the tail. Its already tail heavy.

Another thing is that I think that Jeff is just running 3S packs right now. Running 4S might help a little.

Heck if there is enough room in the battery compartment I will use 2 of my FP Evo 20 4S 1800. That should bring the cg forward more.

there's some pics of the bird in the he7ifreak forum, and you can see that Jeff has mounted the two 3s Apex packs far forward in the frame, so forward that only a little over half of the lipo's length is resting on the frame.

Hello,

I have built my Lepton this weekend, the kit is really nice and goes together without any problems, as you would expect.

Unfortunately I have not been able to fly it as I had two parts missing from my kit, its the first time I have ever had missing parts from an Hirobo kit and I must have built at least 50 Hirobo kits since I started in 1978.

Its very disappointing not to be able to fly it, I will find out tomorrow how long it will take to locate the missing parts.
