I've got the hovering part down well enough to be able to do it in my 8x10 living room for a full battery without hitting anything. Whenever I go outside, it just kinda hops up and then takes off on me. I noticed that even slight wind gust make this sucker jump 10 to 15 feet vertically, and it's very sensitive even with 75% expo. Hrmmm, maybe I am just a big sissy.

So if a larger heli is not more stable, just slower,

Slower "is" stable. The diffenece is as night and day where stability is concerned. I went from the Trex and 3D Pro to a 30 and then on to the 50's. My micros are collecting dust. Fuel and Fly. Crash and Cry.

So, Rev, you're saying that for you that made a good bit of difference in flying? sounds like you were in the same situation I'm in. how did the 30 do and how long did you fly it before you moved on to the 50. would you recommend skipping the 30 and going straight for the 50 or is the 30 good enough to learn on?

30 is good, 50 is a lot better. It was suggested by club members that I go with a 50, I went the 30 route and regretted it after 2 weeks. But the conversion was cheap and easy. See gallery.

I'm sorry, I forgot I removed the 30 - 50 pics.
The Raptor and Hawk Pro are both 50's.

The Raptor was easier to convert to a 50 because of its design. I only upgraded the headblock and red damps. The Hawk was a challenge and more expensive by what I put in it through upgraded parts.

How long did you fly them as 30's before you upgraded to 50?

I flew the Raptor 30 for a month and started getting upgrades.
The Hawk Pro about the same. I had the 50 engine laying around was thinking of putting it into the Airwolf. I bought the Pro for Airwolf Spares and engine breakin. Now its a 50. So don't go with a Centuy or Raptor 30, if you really want a 50.

4mm Flybar & Paddle upgrade
Thurst bearing upgrade (main & spindle)
headblock
Boom and Torque Tube
Anto-rotation Gear
Speed up gear.

All I want is something I stand a chance of being able to fly. Whether that be 30 or 50, I just want to fly for more than 2 minutes without exploding!!!!! Heheh!

The hawk is a BREEZE to convert to a 50 ..... just change the engine mount and the tail boom ..... the hawk is now a 50!

I have done this to several Hawks, and they all fly great!

You must mean the Raptor. IMO the Raptor conversion is simple and the kit costs less. It comes with the pinion & Auto-rotation.

With that said, save yourself some frustration and look around to see what they are flying and what is supported in you area. There is nothing like going to the LHS to get what you need when you need it. (This will greatly minimize the whining)

One more thing, when it comes to nitro heli's there are factors that you have not experienced with micros the come to play.

What about servos, do they come with the Tx? A 7 channel Tx or greater would be better with the Falcon, Raven or Raptor 50. In a few months or so, you may want to add a limitor or governor. Do a little more searching.

Yes, they are JR Digital servos. I can get the futaba 7chp instead if you think that would be a better idea...

sorry, I don't agree about a 50 cyclic being slower, the first heli I flew in forward flight was the Hawk SEv2 w/OS 32, 3 months later I crashed badly and seized the motor so I bought the Falcon SEv2 the Falcon was the same heli from the head to the tail but it had a longer boom and longer blades and the OS 50, well my Falcon was quicker on the cyclic than my 30 was, it took me a month or 2 to get used-to it !!

"how long shoud a guy put-up with Century", well I have been fling Century for about 5 years, and I have NEVER had problems getting my parts !!
