I have a Futaba C7 Transmitter (Channel 13) and I can not get it to work with my BCP. Initially I purchased a single conversion Hitec RX crystal and I could not get it to work. I took my Blade and Transmitter to my LHS to see if they could get it to work but they could not figure it out either. I showed them where some of you from this site were able to use your C7 TX by purchasing the Futaba short crystal with the Black and White tag. So they order me a Futaba crystal. I got it today but it’s not working either. When I plug in my 4in1 it just flashes red and green which is the same thing it does when you plug it in if you do not have your TX turned on. This leads me to believe that with the new crystal the 4in1 is not recognizing the signal from the TX. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I need to set on the TX besides setting the XXXX to HR3? Maybe the RX will not work on channel 13. Does anyone have any ideas??? Help!!!!

No, I don't believe that the cp's 4 in 1 has a channel limit. You can do what I did though and just leave the stock crystal in, and thak the crystal from your blade cp's tx, and plop it into your 7c. Works fine since they are the same crystal that comes with the futbaba radio. However if you want it to be flush, you will have to grind down some of the crsytal housing since it is a little bigger.

You know you have to many heli's only when your wallet is empty.

I could try that to see if it works, but I didn't want to have to switch the crystal out back and forth when I want to fly my planes.

Sometimes they just don't work unfortunatly. I know that it should but occasionally you'll get one that can't do it. Luckily it's quite easy to swap out the receiver portion of the 4-in-1 so you can still use the new 7C.

You can try calling horizon but crystal swapping is not supported and they will probably just tell you to use the stock transmitter.

Putting the stock transmitters crystal into the 7C and thereby changing the channel of the transmitter is against the law in the US. Just so you are aware. Only a licensed person can change the TX frequency. This is not the case in other countries. Swapping crystals will also void your AMA insurance I believe.

Try what Heliboy recomends you will at least know if your radio is properly programed. The light will not stop flashing if your programed in Idle up or throtle not all the way down and so on...... at least if that chrystal works you will know were you stand.

I have the same problem trying to get my Futaba 8UAPS transmitter to work with the blade. I've tried Futaba and Hitec crystals, and nothing seems to work. The light just keeps flashing red. Does it matter what type of crystal is used; just as long as they're on the same channel it's okay, right? There's no special "conversion" compatability or anything weird like that?

You must make absolutely sure that you use a single conversion (short) Crystal in your 4in1 receiver.

It almost sounds like the tx and rx are working but your in pcm mode or your throttle is reversed. That would keep the 4in1 from arming correctly.. If the lite is flashing you have a signal from the tx, something is not allowing the 4in to arm....

A single conversion short crystal...well, I have the standard crystal that comes with a Futaba or Hitec reciever. It plugs in okay. Is there a different type of crystal than the standard one? Where do I get one? The motor won't arm, but also, the servos won't move either. Not trying to hijack your post Cookie; I figure we're both having the exact same problem here.

"Not trying to hijack your post Cookie; I figure we're both having the exact same problem here."

No problem that’s what its for.

I did switch my TX crystals and I was able to get my 7C to work with my Blade on its stock ch 21. But like LOstSOul stated I don't want to fly by swaping the TX crystals out.

bfaulguy, The standard Futaba crystal will not work, also I have tried a Hitec single conversion crystal and it did not work either. The crystal I have now is the Futaba Short crystal (Black and White tag) and it still does not work. What are the chances this crystal could be bad and is there anyway to test a crystal with a meter or something to see if it may be bad?

Have you tried reversing the throttle the 4 in 1 has to see low throttle before it will arm. The other thing is that you may have to increase the throw of the throttle in order for the 4 in 1 to see the throttle is low.

If thats the case, won't you still get the servos to function when you move the sticks? The only thing that won't work is the motors, right? This is a really bizzare problem. Had ANYONE here successfully gotten the 4 in 1 to work with any crystal besides the one that came with it? I'm wondering if it's only tuned to that particular crystal. I think the chances of getting a bad crystal out of the box are very slim; something just isn't working right.

Well if it works with the tx crystal from the e-flite transmitter in the 7C as Cookie said then it's either the crystal that's broken or the receiver that does not like it. Since you've tried other crystals I'd say it's the receiver at this point that just can't for some reason work on that channel.

At this point you can try to contact horizon but I suspect they will tell you this is not supported and if it works with the stock transmitter there is nothing they can do about it.

Your other option is to pick up a cheap receiver like a GWS R6NII and 2 servo extenders and replace the receiver portion of the 4-in-1. It takes all of 5 minutes to swap it out.

Here's the threads from when I did mine:

Yes I have successfully use a Futaba Short Single Conversion crystal on my stock Blade 4-in-1 on channel 43. The Blade came on channel 17 I believe. I only swapped out the receiver on mine because I was trying to get rid of glitching and thought the receiver might have been the problem.

It does work and the E-Flite recevier should be good for the entire channel range but in some cases it won't work. Gary says that he's never seen one that doesn't work but I've now personally seen 2 that didn't work and I've read about 3 people online that have not seen it work.

These are cheap electronics. Most of the time it should work but sometimes it won't. In the case that it doesn't you can just do the JR receiver hack that I posted above.

These are the crystals I have seen work in the past (low and high band):

Apparently the berg single conversion, GWS single conversion pico crystals also work.

Not sure the Hitec cyrstal works, period. The Futaba shorties should work. Can you change the modulation on the 7C? On my 9C I had to change it from PCM to PPM to get 'em "talking".
