I tried it recently, cost about $30 to fix after it slammed into the cement. But I have seen it done. Just invert the blades and reverse the motors. My prob was that I did not reverse the motors properly. The vid is on Youtube.

When I flew the axe posted in bmm's link, all we did was swap the lower blades for the top blades and turn them upside down. It was that easy... well aside from the fact that it became unbalanced, but that was fixed by just adding a quarter of weight to the front of the heli. We didn't have to reverse the motors or anything like that. Suprisingly enough it actually flew quite well... about like a blade cp upright.

Here is another video shot last saturday night:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=YUm_ZV6FL8Q

We added a little extra weight on the nose and it made it fly a lot nicer.

good job on your inverted flight heli_headcase! One question for you: Did you have to add weight to the nose of the heli? When I did the mod. I had to had at least a quarter to balance it out, otherwise it took nearly all back cyclic to keep it flying.

Did you have to add weight to the nose of the heli?

Yes, weight is/was added last year in the form of a "LiPo Blitz" battery monitor circuit. Watch carefully when the nose is pointing toward the camera, you can just make out a flashing green light in the tip of the nose. That's the battery monitor working.

It's still tail heavy and the trim is off a little. The perfect balance required a bolt (weight unknown), maybe a 3/8" dia x 3/4" long including the bolt's head of 9/16" across. The 'proper' way to fix the CG issue is to reverse the battery cage so the pack fits in from the front. This shifts the weight in the right direction and just the perfect amount.

lv2fly15, DUDE !!!:

Don't reverse any physical wiring in the heli. Only exchange rotor blades. To simulate true 3D inverted flight remember to reverse the transmitter's throttle channel, nothing more. To make inverted flight pussie easy, reverse tail (yaw) and elevator ONLY. Leave everything else alone.
