Reb, I dont think this is a problem.... IMO we can`t expect any heli to be perfect at 0% of trim...

Word of caution.

I have been fixing my helicopter tonight and I went to put the new ESKY CNC blade grips on and they DO NOT WORK with the stock head. I've tried every which way I can think of but they stick out to far and the linkages that connect the blade grips are at such a high angle that they just won't work.

The good news is the old blade grips with spindle and all of the washers etc weighed in at 14 grams. The CNC blade grips with the spindle and washers came in at 10 grams. So it's lighter.

Man that just sucks that you have to buy the center hub as well.

tail

lostsoul & Reb32:

Hi guys. I replaced the stock radio & servos with Spektrum DX6 on my King. But, I noticed that I was having a hard trimming the tail. Can you give me some advice on how to properly trim the tail. It's just very unstable. One flight I was hovering and suddenly it's started spinning... luckily I landed it without any damages. I also tried playing around with the gyro but nothing happens.

Thanks

I guess your tail-boom is not fix properly and one or two tail-gears are starting to die...

Do you have the old tail or the new tail,,I know that happened to me with the old tail,,the clutch was too loose and the shaft that the tail blades are attached to slid over and I lost control of the tail,,,I also had it holding then slipping one day,,so the tail would be fine then I would lose it...So I just kept the clutch tight

Thats if its the clutch,,or like Martin_gsxr says,,maybe one of the gears going bad...I wouldnt think its a trimming problem if it holds for a bit then lets go..What gyro do you have?

Hey Martin_Gsxr,, How did that new lipo work out for you that you got?

Since the E-SKY CNC parts don't come with instructions I thought this might help someone so I'll post it. Might save someone the hour I spent figuring it out.

I came up with my own way of getting the new grips on the spindle that seemed to work very well. Here's how I did mine:

End Screw ->
End Washer from original grips ->
Outer bearing casing with groove facing towards grip->
Open ball bearing ->
( preinstalled enclosed ball bearings in the grips) ->
stepped washer from old grips with step towards the grip ->
2 thin washers from new kit ->
brass washer from new kit

then you just reverse that on the other side.

This worked the best for me. Just remember that you can only use the CNC grips with the CNC center hub though.

No I didn't. I don't have $100 to part with right now. I'm sending the grips back. I'm going to use the funds that I would have for CNC bits for the BeltCP I think. Probably be around Christmas though that I'll have the money for it.

Hi All,

I'm thinking about getting a second heli and while I want the T-Rex, I don't want to spend that kind of money. E-sky states that CP2 is 305g while King is 350g. Is that true?

I have an 11.5oz (326g) HoneyBee CP2 with DD, 3s1200 10C, BL 3600kv (rated at 100W), 10A BL ESC, carbon blades and a seperate receiver. I do basic flying and hovering - no 3D at this time.

If I move that equipment into a plain King (without Cool's landing gear), how light can I make it? 14oz? How much havier is the bare King frame vs bare CP2 frame? Does it fly well with CP2's carbon blades?

Please advise. I'm trying to save money and being able to use the same lipos, BL and esc would help a lot. I could have a King for the price of a HH gyro, one extra servo and a frame kit

Thanks,

Mike

My king comes in at 16.2 ounces RTF with the super landing skids and a t-rex canopy. I don't think your gonna be able to shave much more than an ounce off of that.

I don't think the CP2 carbons would work to well on the heli. They are a lot smaller than the Kings blades. A LOT smaller.

Your lipo should be OK in the king. It's only good to 12 amps so you will have to watch your pinion usage on that motor.

I can't really speak to that motor. I know E-Sky recommends a 3100kv motor but most people are either running the 3200kv 400DB motor or the 4200kv 400DH motor. It might work.

What TX are you planning on using? Someone managed to get the stock TX to work but I think they ditched it very soon afterwards cause it sucked. You really need a computer TX to tweak the king well.

L0stS0ul,

Thanks for the input. I use my Futaba 8U TX, so I'm all set there.

My motor is basically very similar to 2015-3600. Would that be sufficient for use with stock King blades? I've read that 10A ESC might be on the low side. Since I don't do 3D and I don't "gun" the throttle, I hope to be able to use it.

Also, what kind average current draw do you experience when just flying around?

Thanks,

Mike

Yeah that TX is fine,

The esc is really to low for the king. A 20-25 amp ESC really is needed even for the stock brushed motor.

I am running the JustGoFly 400DH on an 8 tooth pinion on my helicopter. I'm getting about 2200-2300RPM. I just ran the numbers the other day. In idle up mode I'm drawing 10 amps at 80% throttle with 0 pitch. I have my heli setup to go -10 to +10 degrees pitch. Unfortunatly I was unable to test the full pitch amp draw as the heli got light on the skids and started to move around my test stand. I had it held down with 10 pounds of free weights lol. I've got the numbers I did get at home and I don't remember them right now. I think it was over 15 amps though around 90% throttle and +6-+7 degrees pitch. I do know I was pulling close to 150 watts though.

Hopefully someone that knows more about that motor will chime in.

I don't know the exact average amp draw I'm pulling when flying around. I would assume it's around 12 or so. I've not actually done the calculation but that's my gut. I've got my TP1320mAh 11.1v lipos and I'm getting about 8-10 minutes of sport flying. I'm not doing full 3D yet.

I just checked my numbers that I was able to take last time. I didn't get the idle up numbers but here are all of my results:

Normal mode:
0 degree pitch 50% throtle
Amps: 6.4
Watts: 74.2
Volts: 11.53

Hover Throttle (+6 degrees pitch ~72% throttle
Amps: 9.19
Watts: 101.2
Volts: 11.8

Now for the only idle up numbers I was able to get...

0 degrees pitch 80% throttle
amps: 10.2
Watts: 115
Volts: 11.1

That's what I'm seeing on my heli.

Hi saahbs, I try the 2015-3600 on the King at first (now 400dh) and this motor is really not powerfull enough for the 475-525g King...

Your 10c batteries are a little too small, but..

L0stS0ul, Martin_gsxr,

Thanks for the numbers, they are very good to know.

I guess I can put CP2's motor and ESC in my glider (was planning to upgrade it) and use a Phoenix 25 I have lying around with a new motor - 400dh.

Are the 8g eSky servos good enough for King? I know that they are not the best centering and the strongest, but are they enough for basic flying?

Thanks,

Mike.

I've had serious issues with the e-sky servos in the past and swore I would never use them again. I had 3 out of 4 fail on me and one was in flight costing me over $40 to repair the damage. That was $40 I should have spent on HS-55's to begin with.

That being said though Steve over at helidirect has told me that E-Sky recognized the problem and around the same time that they change their name to TWF they also switched factories and in that move they improved the quality of their components. Apparently they are back to the quality that they were when they were first released. At that time they were considered very good servos.

I'm not going to take that chance though. so the HS-55's are $5 more per.

L0stS0ul,

I guess I have the early ones since they haven't stipped yet (despite numerous crashes) and center decently.

Thanks, Mike.
