I noticed that I had to put in a fair bit of forward trim at the field. The question is would you:
Lengthen the elevator pushrod to get it mechanically dead right or dial in the correction on the radio?
eCCPM always seem to have inaccessible elevator servos.

I'd just trim it out with the trim if you've got digital trims unless its way out as changing battery packs or even the position of the pack would cause trim changes. I always prefer to set my swashplates up level as this gives you a datum point to set up from.

Thanks. I also set the swash level. I do find the thing seems tail heavy even though it balances. I sometimes put a bit of right tilt on the swash so I might just try a tiny bit of forward on the elevator. Really could do with a swash spirit level I suppose.

Yes I agree thAT THE HELI NEEDS LOADS OF NOSE DOWN. I have just fitted a axi motor which is liter than the standard motor especially with a heat sink, and I fitted a ubec which meant the removal of the rx pack and switch unit.

Now then, even with the pack pushed right to the nose of the heli it wil not balance.

I have HAD to fit a 10oz weight to the nose area to get a CG. That said, the heli weight is still within tolerance. I feel that the long boom is a killer. I was of the mind to try a logo 10 boom and belt with a set of 500 blades.

Hey John,

I'd do it manually mate, by adjusting the linkages.
Remember though to adjust the elevator one by making it longer and then adjust the two front pushrods (shorter) to keep things even.

It is much better practice to make large trim changes mechanically then electronically if you can.

I don't know why some of you guys are having to put in a lot of nose down trim, or why you have to add weight to get it to balance. My swash is dead level, hovers perfectly hands-off, and balances just right without adding any weight. I'm running box-stock with the 3700 Lipo battery.

What gives??

Thanks Ian - that's what I would do with any heli normally though I never thought adjust the other two. I given it (elevator) a little tweak for now and later I'll check the throws.

Bill. I wonder why yours has turned out to be so well balanced. To get mine to balance required an extra Rx battery up front. I'd move the motor battery (12 cell) further forward but it won't clear the canopy. Managed to fit the motor battery between the frame and the undercarriage so I could get it well forward but it was too close to the main gear for me to be happy. You can see the spacers that give the clearance.

I had to cut may canopy a bit at the front....my Lipo is at the front edge of the carbon plate. I also have a rx battery at the front of the radio tray.

I believe the difference is between those using 4S vs 6S lipos.

I use 6S and also have a 1100Nic in front under tray...balances well..oh yeah...had to cut 1-1/2 inch from bottom of canopy.

If I chopped some meat off of the bottom of the canopy I could slide the battery forward and get great balance but what a travesty. I have a 1400 NiMh Rx battery up front as well. Still...............

Mine is tail heavy, I run 6s, with no RX battery, I just hate to add uneeded wieght. So for now I fly it tail heavy.

Mine balances ok but with the lipo about an inch overhanging the carbon tray, and a 2000 nicad rx pack!

Seems to be no real answer to this one, it's a "catch 22" situation. I think I am going to put the motor battery well forward even if I have to modify the canopy a lot. I had the same on my Eolo, trouble is it looks ridiculous but, hey, who cares about looks. Had a thought - I inverted the radio tray and will try an extension on the tray and get the Rx battery up in the nose.

Ah that's better. The 12 cell battery projects through the now enlarged hole by 2" and the balance is luverly. Now I realise I should have bought the white one.
