Anyone have a modified Blade flying with the "belted" tail from Icon Micro Design yet? I ordered the kit today and am looking for inputs. I have a Futaba 401 gyro (temporarily stealing from my old gas heli), spare Spectrum receiver and CC Pheonix 25 ESC already that I will be using. Thinking about Hitec 55 servos and HiMax 2015-3600 or 4200 BL motor. Thanks.

Once the conversion is over, the only blade parts will be above the main shaft. I've looked at other optoins for a micro - Century Hummingbird 3D Pro, Maxir, etc - on other forums and decided to go this way since I have a lot of Blade CP aand Esky spare head parts. I am very interested in the upcoming release of the "Pocket Zoom" but heard it won't be out until late summer.
My conversion will be for indoor flying since I use my MX400 outside most of the time.

I should be getting mine any day now. I'll have a setup similar to yours, 401 from a nitro project, HS-55's, HiMax 2015-3600 with an Align 24amp ESC. I'll let you know the second I get it in and get it airborne.

Why because I want a good heli that I can fly in a small space easier. I love my TRex but, when I fly in the building next to my shop, the TRex is just too big. I can take my BCP in there and actually fly it around rather than just hop and hover and piro's.. So I want a machine that is small, and capable.

Size, same can be said for the t-rex...for the price of a good t-rex you can get a raptor 30 or even 50

Hi Rcdaddy, I want to buy the kit at first, but have the same problems with there website... and they did`nt seem to care to respond my Emails... so I was thinking if the pre-sales service is scrap, will it be better after I pay and wait for weeks for delivery??

So I decide to go with a Esky King frame to get rid of the tail-motor solution..

Why am I doing this?!!

Thanks for the link to the other posts Axis - any idea what Leslie used for her motor and how her "project" flys?

Also for dct, I have an MX400 also (TRex size electric) that can't be flown in small indoor areas like the Blade can. I had gotten my Blade to the point where it was flying very well with the following exceptions- I've had 4 EDP50H direct drive tail motors ($11 a piece) go dead in the last few months and a $70 4 in 1 toast itself, I started to look for another good flying micro. After reading a number of complaints on different forums regarding the ones I was considering, I decided to give this belted tail a try - that's why I'm doing the mod.

akerkhof - I look forward to hearing about your build and opinion of the kit.

RCDaddy cut and paste the following into your browser.
http://www.iconmicrodesigns.com/
I had a problem using the "Ordering" link also, so I used the "Contact" button on the web site and got an email back from Icon regarding sending a money order in lieu of using PayPal.

I'll be sure to post once the kit arrives - sounds like that won't be until the first or second week in April!

Hi All,

After hearing about the difficulties ordering from the site, I went in and checked my page code and just re-loaded the script and it works now. Go figure. I guess I did learn a little about this stuff Aron.

I am also getting ready to release a kit for the King/Cool and the topper of them all, The MaxiR.

MaxiR photo included.

Thanks to all that have ordered and asked about the kits. My vision is to be able to have a flier get the same reliability from a micro as the fellows flying larger heli's do. It is possible once you get rid of the tail motor and the gears for those that have those.

I would like to see a video of this flying from those that have installed this kit. What is the total flying weight? Can I still use my 3S 900 mah packs?
