My Posts This: Topic Forum | No, no, that was several Whispers ago. That crash was way back in 1991, and almost everything broke. I think the mainframes were in about 20 pieces. I swore I'd never buy another Whisper because they are so fragile, but I really wanted to build up a small Cobra, so I finally ate mud and bought another one (it's the only mechanics that will fit the fuse).
I didn't want to add much detail because I'm trying to keep the weight down. The fuselage added quite a bit of weight - the mechanics with all of the radio gear - except for the battery - weighs 1.8 pounds. The battery weighs 1 pound. The fuse adds about another half pound, so I'm pretty lucky that this thing gets off the ground at all, especially at 5500'. If I have the batteries up to snuff, I get about 3 minutes of gentle forward flight, and about 2 minutes of labored hovering.
I'm pleased with it - it's just what I wanted. A little Cobra to cruise around the sky with. No agressive flying (hey, it's a small electric with a heavy fuse and I'm at 5000' - what could I expect??), but it sure looks cool zipping around! |
