My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I have about 15 flights on my ARF Swift, and wanted to pass on a few issues that I have had so far.

1) The tail was acting strange - random normal/abnormal hunting, not holding, etc. One of the tail grip bearings had come apart. Smooth as glass now with a new bearing.

2) Main blade tracking going in and out of track. There was not a speck of grease on the thrust bearings, dampeners or spindle.

3) Can't tighten the tail gear box with that single bolt - no matter how tight I make it. Doesn't affect flight, but still don't like it.

4) Still chasing a tail vibe. It appears to be related to the main blades even though balanced properly. I have carbons on the way.

5) Tail pushrod boom guide is worthless - way too short. Made my own support. I didn't like the vibrations without the support.

I like the machine a lot. It's a nice, smooth-flying, predictable heli.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I didn't like the tail box. Moved up and down and never could get it tight. Logo tail box is very close and works on the boom. I have a standard Logo 10 tail box and a carbon upgrade both work great.

Thrust bearings were bone dry as well. Another Swift here in Phoenix was the same way no grease in the thrust bearings.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I agree, I purchased a UK kit and the feathering spinndle was as tight as a ducks a**e in a storm, there was no grease on the wrong way round thrust set, no grease on the spinddle or rubbers, No motor bolts, no long bolt to hold the tail gear box on, no min blades, and the thing that realy got me p***ed was the fact that the instructions did not mention that the elevator arm on servo needed to be 20mm from center.

HOWEVER all that said it is a nice heli.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Good stuff for us new Swift owners to look for. Keep it coming no matter how insignificant, it may just save someone a lot of grief in the future. Nothing worse than saying, "I lost a tail blade in flight due to a week screw!" and to then hear, "Oh yea, that happen to me along time ago! You didn't know about that?"

Amazing, that happened to me too I actually had one of the tail blade holder screws come out, taking the blade & grip with it, posted around Christmas time.

sorry, didn't spot your spelling mistake, thought it was a 'week' screw because that was how long it lasted . Century do cover themselves in the instructions by basically telling you to take it all to pieces to check out before finishing it, as so many have said, a kit would be easier and my preference, there are comparatively so few parts in the Swift it would only take a few hours to build.

Mine looked identical to Wedge's.

I too sat baffeled looking at the pictures in the directions & thinking to myself "WTF would they set it up with so much binding?"

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		To my mind the problem seems to be that at the servo end you can't get the pushrod link right up close to the boom. I would want the servo horn to mimic the movement of the rudder arm so it is all running parallel. I would prefer not to have the servo arm in one plane and the rudder arm in another. It is possible to move the servo inboard a little so the servo can be in the same horizontal plane as the rudder arm. So in the end it is all a bit of a compromise. Plus my servo mount was on the wrong way round.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I tried mine like Helijohn's but it wouldn't work with the guide. Then after many trys mine is the same as Wedge's set up. It is smooth as silk. I do think Century should take a picture of this are just to make sure someone somewhere doesn't get this wrong. With the servo installed wrong it could possible slow the tail down just enough to cause a "Swift" death vs the small amount of extra time that could be there to save from whatever it may have been.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		These days I have the guide installed now (slightly rearward) as I spotted that the pushrod link is a bit of a loose fit on the ball at the tail end so I wanted a bit of extra support. What I am getting to is that it is fine and I'll add a pic after Monday's free upload.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Ya I agree with you guys, the manual should be a bit better, but in the end I figured it out and works well, my pushrod is perfectly parallel with the boom, and runs smooth as silk, and lines up nicely with the T/R bellcrank.
