Ive got a Honeybee CP2 and am having trouble setting it up on my 9Z radio. When im spooling it up, increasing the throtle very slowely, it will get light on the skids and then just jump in the air about 5 feet and I cannot control it and have to crash it. It seems very sensetive on the collective once this happends. I believe it is happening once the red light comes on on the 4 in 1. This is full throttle right? It happens about 3/4 stick. When I go back to the stock radio it flies fine. What is wrong with my setup? I cant figure it out.

Thanks,
Clay

Hi rckid, on my radio I put the channel 3(throttle) EPA at 115% when the stick is down and 37% when the stick is up...

That way the red light appear at little less than 100% stick up and the front rotor start to spin a little more than 0%.

rckid,
The 9Z is a wonderful radio with just about any option you could want. Finless has a setup video for the 9Z in the TRex Forum. Most of what he posts will transfer to the Blade or the Bee. Here is a post I wrote that may help you as well. Read the entire thread as the information is scattered as I was helping someone setup his bird.

Sounds like you are experiencing the "sticky collective" problem. Do a search on rcgroups.com for the subject. They have some great CAD diagrams there on how to fix it for free.

I agree that the problem sounds like a sticky collective. Search RR for solutions.

I use the following settings for my HB-CP2 with my Futaba 8U:

Normal:

throttle: 0, 48, 55, 70, 90
pitch: 45, 56, 61, 67, 74
revo: 0, 8, 36, 52, 68

Idle-Up:

throttle: 75, 60, 60, 75, 90
pitch: 30, 48, 60, 67, 74
revo: 54, 46, 40, 52, 68

My high rate is 100% with no expo and low rate is 100% with -35% expo.
The ccpm ATV is set to 85%, as these helis have too much throw.

BTW, I fly with 3s lipo, stock motor and DD tail. The proportional pot on the 4-in-1 is turned all the way down and I use the radio's revo mixing.

Let us know how it flys.

sticky collective is a mechanical problem, not electronic... If the heli fly fine with stock radio, it is no sticky...

Martin,

The stock radio has relatively low rpm around hover. If rckid set an aggresive throttle curve (much higher rpm around hover) he could start experiencing sticky collective.

My 2c.
