I am currently using G2 and am looking to move up to a more realistic semulator. I am trying to decide between G3 and Reflex. I know that boath of the look great but what I am looking fo is a more realistic sim. My G2 seems like everything is perfict and everything I do with it comes out perfect the when I get to the field, well that's another story.
Thank You for your sugestions

I'm an XTR advocate after having G3, on the same PC XTR performs and looks more realistic. My 2 cents ....

I am thinking of selling my G3. Not because I do not like it, but because I just never use it. I mainly bought it for my kids to learn on, but they want to play other games instead. If you decide to get G3, PM me and maybe we can make a deal that will work in your favor.

If you're looking for "looks", go for the reflex, but if you want a sim that feels like your heli feels on the field, DEFINATELY go for the G3. There's no sim out there that feels as real as the G3.

XTR is best for looks but those that say it does not feel real have not set it up for real. XTR can be as real as real as can be if you set it up right. XTR can be more of a pain to get right but when set up right it is better than G3. Setup is more painful but worth it when done right. More work results in more more results.

G3 is expensive and never works on my 3 PC with different configurations , and even with a lot of download.
i saw him working ( on an other computer) not so realistic

XTR is cheaper , works immediatly and is really good

why pay more for an average quality product ?

buy a good german product !

G3 all the way. Love being able to use a USB controller and not my 9CHPS. There are multiple sites to download additional heli's and airplanes not as many as Reflex but they are out there.

I run G3, I'm happy with it, it works great, and with the new expansion and ability to import custom models it will only get better from here.

I was considering also picking up a copy of Reflex until I saw the thread posted here today that Reflex is running around threatening to sue their customers (or potential customers). And for ordering a cable, in this case one to be used with legally owned realflight software.

I'd never buy it now... not a chance. I will admit to having flown it though and being thoroughly impressed To each their own I guess, if it's in your opinion they're within their rights, buy it. I on the other hand will state my feelings by not.

Hi microDan,
Can you elaborate? You mean set up the tx or reflex parameters?

Aerolfy Pro Deluxe?

What about the Aerofly Pro Deluxe?

I never tried it before, but the scenery looks good too!
But for me it's more imporant the reality of flying the airplanes then the look!
Everything can looks really nice, planes, scennnery, but the reallity counts a lot!!

Aerofly Pro was pretty close to Realfight G2 , marginally more realistic particularly on fixed wing . Unfortunately , the upgrade Aerofly Pro Deluxe yielded no improvement in flight characteristics , just in the graphics .
Having owned all three (G3,AFPD and XTR) for over a year (nearer two years with XTR) , and having flown fixed wing models since 1978 and helis since around '89 , I rate G3 as the best .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Hi microDan,

bo105,
Yes that is what I meant, you can use your radio settings such as trying a heli you already have in your radio. Or just as I've been doing is just making settings in the parameters in XTR for the model I want to use. After modifying the model heli you can now save it out as a new model. So you can always have the original or a modded one to keep experimenting with.. Then once you have a heli that flies the way you want it too or now it feels like your real heli. You can duplicate some of the settings in the radio and then try the radio settings on the original model in XTR. I hope this made sense to you.

Thanks, it makes sense.

Can the reflex use normal and idle up modes?

You need head speed with negative pitch. There are 2 ways to accomplish this. 1)If you are letting your transmitter do the throttle/pitch mixing then you can have the normal<->idle up switch work the way it does in the real thing. 2)If you are not, then the governor should be on in the Reflex menu.

pH7,
What you said is true. But I like to practice auto's you do need the switch on your radio to function on my 9303 it's aux 2 to kill the throttle or call it throttle hold. You will have to uncheck TX mixing pitch -> throttle in model parameters. Trying auto's is a real learning experience.

I'm not so sure Reflex is better in the "looks" department. G3 can really lay it down when it comes to sweet graphics. They have high resolution photo fields, especially in the new Expansion Pack which I just picked up and love. The physics are amazing and I've been really pleased. G3 is VERy diverse. Offering multi-player functionality and also textured enviornments which require more CPU and video card power but are awesome to fly in. I find I fly G3 a ton because of the different places to fly, the diverse number of aircraft and the ability to fly online with others and learn from the best.

That's my opinion anyway...
