What are my options on this center hub? Finally got the heli flyin, and it hasn't broke yet, but I don't want it to, so, should I:

Option 1: Buy an all new metal t-rex head

Option 2: take my chances with the plastic

Option 3: Wait until sometime NEXT YEAR, when somebody has these puppies in stock?

I'm quite angry, $500 some dollars and can't even get the parts, hmmm. Good thing the chopper flies nice. Let me know what you think? Please.

Same here... I've been just hovering since I got it. Can't really fly outside yet, either too cold (below freezing) or too windy. I've got a couple of lhs saying they'll get it by tomorrow (fingers x'd). Like Squirrlybird said, just fly it and replace as soon as possible. from asking around how the plastic hub fails, it either seems to fail off the bat after 1-3 flights or after blades-strikes. If it doesn't fail after several hovers, I guess its good to go, but inspect it first anyway and see if there are any visible defects. If you get a blade-strike.... just replace it.

MX 400 Pro hub.

My MX400 Pro has flown quite well for over 15 flights, including loops and inverted hovering, with the stock hub. I did purchase the metal hub just for the bling factor. My Pro however did come with some different advancements from the standard MX400 and ARK 400. The flybar assembly (longer & stiffer) and linkage sets (ball links & no z-bends) are different from the MX 400 and ARK400. Then there is the extra blingy that it came with too though they are'nt necessities. All-in-all, an awsome flying machine and not underpowered w/ included power system. Battery C rating and head speed make the difference.

I have about 40 flights on my heli and finally got bitten by the broken center hub. get the aluminum one ASAP. If you want to invenst $$$$$ so soon after laying out 500-600 bucks on a setup, the metal T-REX head is awesome. I've been slowly converting to T-rex parts because my LHS carries everything, (metal and plastic) and almost every T-REX part fits the X400 (except the center hub and flybar holder.) but dont let the availablity of the hub stop you. even after cutting my brothers lawn with my new CF baldes, the total repair cost was $28.00. minus the blades (they survived this time).

Just to let you know, that Micro Heli co is an amazing place. They ship faster to me from FRANCE, then most of the people that ship to me from California.

3 days for me to get my rotor head.

Been waiting on a WEEK for parts from California.

Have a look at their products/stock at;

has anyone tried boiling the plastic head to see if that'd make it last longer?

How about:

3. Change everything over to T Rex stock plastic.

I did mine that way after upgrading to 400 metal (which was still poor due to the flybar setup).

For less than 40 bucks I now have a good solid head system.

TREX Plastic?

Good call, never thought of that. Which parts do I need to replace to do the T-rex switch?

Thanks

Everything from swash up. You could use the washout from X400, just make sure both "sticks" slide smoothly in the washout.

Or what I'm planning on doing is all X400 blings w/ T-Rex blade grips. So I can use all the T-Rex blades out there

I switched to the ARK aluminum washout arms, as they are longer and allow for 3-4 more degrees of pitch.

I use the entire Ark aluminum head, and I am over-all very pleased with the responsiveness, as well as the look and feel of the heli.

I agree with the last post. My heli performs great with the ARK upgrades. If you want to replace so many parts with T-Rex parts-might as well just buy a T-Rex (No offense to those who have done these conversions). Over-all though, I have been happy with my MX 400 Pro.

MX400

My MX has been upgraded with all Helimax Parts. They are a little more expensive than the T-Rex parts, But the parts have less play in them. I have owned a T-Rex SE. Sold it and now only fly the MX400.
Love the MX.

Quick Charge,Fuel, and let's go Flying!!!

I agree except that I bought the X 400 and then found out about the weak rotorhead, the sticky flybar hub and the sloppy elevator cyclic.

BTW: I did buy a T Rex and it flys very good, but my T ReX400 CCPM, actually flys better, has a better frame and with the T Rex canopy looks just as good.

The only reason I'm using T-REX parts is because they are readily available and the price is right. I want to support the LHS if I can and this is the best way. He has everything for the T-Rex and I can convert to aluminum 1-2 parts at a time.

Buy Alum x400 parts

I've found that the cheapest parts are the ARK Alum parts, you can get them off eBay or the such.. there is a fellow with the best prices, MatrixMini, who will hook you up. I found it by far the cheapest.
