ok my friend has a swift deal package , we built it between and it flew fantastic, but it it cuts power to the motor which results in a crash, the first one from about 50ft up resulting in complete tail and skids, after the rebuild another crash this time 3ft resulting in broken skids..

setup as follows

swift deal with motor
cc60 esc bec disabled(removed red wire from connector)
flight power evo 20 3700 14.8 lipo
6v flight pack

when the motor cuts its a random thing never know when its going to happen.

we think is a esc problem but we dont know any advice on the problem will be a great help

Sounds like the ESC is shutting off due to low battery voltage.

1. Use the CC soft cutoff option
2. Reduce the max pitch be about 1 degree
3. If that does not work try manually setting the cutoff voltage to 11.2v (auto feature gives you 12v cutoff). You need the Castle Link computer interface to do this.

What are your ESC settings?

Checked wire connections? Solid?

Are they soldered into bullet connectors or directly to motor wires?

What was batt voltage readings after crashes?

I have/use CC Phoenix-80 and don't use or need PC cable interface...it is just more convenient than Tx stick.

Hi

If you look under the subject called new swift, you will see the setting advised by a century pilot.

You do NOT need a lead to make the settings change to the ESC.

I had similar problems and now run with cut-off voltage at 4v and current limiting disabled, at the moment relying on timing flights to avoid over discharging the pack although it's pretty obvious when the voltage drops. I was still having the odd throttle cut in flight so I've relocated the speed controller at the rear of the side frame, on the outside behind the canopy post.

well we bought a new CC60 the old one had melted the heatsink(better to be safe than sorry),programed it as recommended in the new swift thread, also added a lipo guard to be safe and so far so good .

hovered 6 pack's over the last 2 days without a glitch or anything, cant seem to get the lipo alarm to come on probably due to programing

thanks for the help and advice

I don’t want to put anyone down but why are you guys buying the CC60?

The CC 60 and 80 are the same except that the 60 has half the chips lest off the circuit board. I always but the CC80 because it has more margin and does not overheat as easily. I know it costs a little more but in my opinion the CC Phoenix 80 is well worth the cost.

In the UK the Swift was only available as a deal with the Phoenix 60 included plus a Flightpower 4S 3700 Evo20 lipo & Century motor so we had little choice in the matter.

Hey Miskin,

Glad to hear you got your problem sorted, sorry you didn't come across the settings sooned before you'd caused some damage.

As mentioned above no doubt it was the current limiting, I fly with it off to stop any unwanted motor stoppages.
Also, the LiPo voltage cutoff I to set very low at 5volts. While it is there for a reason to save the LiPo's from going below 3 volts per cell, as and when they do so the motor will stop automatically.
Towards the end of the flight if the current draw went up most probably the ESC would shut the motor down to save the battery, I'd rather have this decision left down to me. Hence why I run a low cutoff voltage a seperate LiPo voltage warning device to indicate battery power.

Enjoy your Swift now and any questions just ask.

Although we had little choice in the UK, for the 4S setups most are using, the CC Phoenix 60 is fine, the only thing I would and have changed from the original deal is the motor. I'm well aware why Century UK sold the Swifts as deals and have no problem with it, the heli as sold will fly reasonably well, its just that I prefer a higher head speed for my (linited) 3D.
