I have a picture of the ESC from the 4-in-1, I am going to annotate it to show which parts were replaced (and also to point what the basic parts are). Adding pictures to posts seems complicated? am I missing something? Anyone who would like to see the picture send me a PM with an e-mail. OR maybe someone can help clarify how to put pictures in posts.

I'll dig them out for you - BTW what is the part number of the Fairchild part you have found at Mouser?

Marke,

Here is a photo of my 4in1 ESC showing where the Vregs are located and annotated giving details on which regulators I recommend for replacement.

I did a quick search of DK and found both parts I mention in stock. I used the TI part in mine and have flown it without a problem ever since.

so i burned out my main motor esc in the 4-1... at the same time i lost a servo. this is all well and good because i got my BL in the mail today and now i dont need the fried 4-1 main esc. i am also getting an esc for my tail so i can add HH. seeing as i dont need either of the speed controls in the 4-1 can i take out that whole board and connect my power to the feed on the RX side? it would be sweet if i could just take out this sketchy fried accident waiting to ruin my day....

One of your new ESCs will supply power to the receiver - Both ESCs will be connected to the battery via a Y-harness - But you will want to pull the power wire to the receiver from one of the ESCs though so that only one ESC is supplying power to the receiver for proper function.
