My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Today finally i took my QJ8 to an indoor flight session for her maiden flight. In comparison with my Predator Gasser, it's not half the responce. It needs a longer flybar, some bigger padles for sure. This with a headspeed of 2400. The Lehner motor is very nice.

Lehner 1920/21 850W continues 1350W peak. You never need this power! The QJ8 takes 550W at 2400 RPM head with 12 degrees pitch

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I will have to assume that you are refering to response for hard 3D flying. My QJ8 flies just fine and then some for sport flying and mild 3D right out of the box!

It's more what you are used to.My big Bird (6kg) is 4 times quicker in responce. I do not 3D, but I like the sensative feeling. For sure, sports flying and mild 3D it will perform well. Now, if youre used to fly the out of the box QJ8 and try a fixed pitch helicopter. This is what I experianced with the QJ8. But it's quiet, lot's of power, the rest can be taken care of. MFIS takes care of a 325mm fly bar and I will find some agressive padles. Let's see what happens. Don't get me wrong, I still believe and know it's a great heli. Maybe my demands are a little to high.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		OK. Not trying to bust your chops but I must say, your first impressions were much different then mine. It must be the climate difference!! Or maybe lack of Winter sun? Since the QJ8 was my first real flying heli, I had nothing to compare it to but a Piccolo. That's not a real heli!

Now that I have also a QJ16, I feel the same if not better. The 16 flies better than the 8!!

Here you go. Believe me, it's all about feeling. If you put some longer flybar and light larger padles on it, it will fly more like the quick responce of a t-rex on high RPM head. The head rpm of my quick is 2400. And even at this speed it's slow. But it flies very stable. I think the stock padles are heavy. Otherwise it would be less stable with the rather short fly bar.

I can program quicker response with my radio (9Z) but quite frankly, if it responded quicker than it does now, It would be too difficult for me to fly it comfortably. Remember, Im strictly a sport flyer and have no desire to do 3D at all. Changing the flybar and such would give me a headache! My typical headspeed now is around 1800-1850. I can't imagine 2400 not being enough for you but then I don't know your flying style.

MRS; Do you use expo to tame it down around the center?
Henry; You make a good point about staying within one's own "comfort Zone". What works for one person may not work for another. It takes a lot of practice to improve ones skill level, and you can't practice if your machine is busted! One has to work his way up gradualy.
One thing I have learned is that with a very quick response set up, one can lose it a lot quicker, and in a panic, over control like crazy! In those situations, I have accidentaly done some spectacular manouvers that would make Alan Szabo and Jason Krause stand up and take notice!

I do not use expo on cyclic, pitch or tail. Only in normal mode I use a less angled line for my pitch curve.

And I agree, everybody has to do it to his/her own comfort.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Ive had this thought recently since upgrading my QJ to 6s1p recently, the weight of this thing seems to have doubled. What are the weights of all your machines? Im thinking that in the next 2-5 years lipos will get more powerful and lighter which will have a great impact on the way it flies
