Updated QJ-8
I couldn’t resist upgrading this little baby, got me some 30 size landing gear from midland helicopters and carbon frame panels from battlercon aka RotorWorkz and here is the result:

This landing gear is 5cm wider than the stock landing struts and 1,5cm higher.
About RotorWorkz carbon frame I have to say it is excellent quality, very well cut and much stronger than stock panels. These carbon frames are a bit lighter too but not much.
I don’t use the QJ-8 own canopy because I don’t like how it looks on the heli. So I got a QJ-16 canopy, chopped the extras and put some stickers I had at home (from Aligh stickers for T-Rex canopy).

check my galery for more pictures.

Nice

That's purtee bird (said with a TX southern draw). I like the landing gear. Do you have info on those? I'd like a pair...

It's better to have flown and crashed than to never to have flown at all.

Nice!

Beautiful! I too would appreciate more info on the landing gear. I am presently using the QJ-16 struts and skids and it is a bit wide! Yours looks much more "proportional" to size of heli.

Here you go cowboy ...

I got the first on the list.
They need to cut them at desired length and sand them at the end attached to the frame. They are big and funny if you don't cut them.
I have also shortened the skids. Weight penalty is 50gr compared to stock landing struts. The plastic material is hard thus you need a dremel or similar tool to make them fit the QJ-8. Together with this set I ordered a Raptor30/50 landing gear but don’t use it because the plastic legs are bigger and heavier.

Those skids look exactly like the ones I get from heliproz.com for $13. Right down to the purple tape wrapped around the skids for shipping. I use them on my eRaptors. Check my gallery.

Thanx. Those pictures are taken at my home studio. Unfortunately I have only one room for all my hobbies.

Hi Zero_IQ,

That Century Hawk 30 landing gear looks great. You said you had to cut them at desired length. How much did you cut and how did you join them back together and still keeping it strong?

I have also seen a Raptor 30 landing gear on the EP-8. I believe it was on twinring's heli (if I am correct). Right twinring??? Any mod required in your case?

Thanks.

@ RC_Hobbies

When I got this lg, I got also the RotorWorkz carbon frame at the same time. So I measured and cut the plastic lg legs for mounting on the carbon frame. It is possible to make them fit at stock alloy frame though you need to cut at different angle. It needs the following work to fit:
1. Plastic legs are having a thicker part in the middle, measure 0,5cm outer from the end of center thick part and cut.
2. Test placing the leg at the frame and notice the angle needed at the end of the leg where it will contact the frame. Sand all four legs at this angle.
3. Place each leg in the frame and mark where you need to bolt them, also notice the angle you need for the bolts and drill 1,5mm holes at that angle.
4. Cut from the alloy skids 6cm -8cm from the rear end, cut 1,5cm from the front. (I used the copper pipe cutter tool)
5. I used servo mounting self taping screws with flat heads to mount the legs at the frame plate. You may need to sand around the hole if you use the screws from stock lg, the stock screws need shortening of 1cm.
Note that the material is hard and high density plastic and hard to work with. You need a motor tool, dremel or similar with cutter wheel and sand drum. In steps 2. and 3. you have to sand the plastic.
The process is like hit and miss, but it isn’t difficult to make it right. Tip: when you sand the plastic to give the desired angle take in mind that after installation the legs bend a little under the 1,3Kgr – 1,5Kgr weight of the heli.
In my EP-8 the rear legs are taller giving a little rise of the tail, that way I have better clearance of the tail on grass field.
