Hi All,

I have just purchased a used Robbie Spirit LI. Whilst overall it seems a nice smooth heli, it seems quite twitchy in the hover. It has been fitted with Quick UK mixing arms, which have three holes for the ball link that connects to the flybar. Mine is setup on the outer hole. Would this make it twitchy?

It has also been fitted with the Robbie lightweight paddles (part number S5169). Is anyone else using these and finding it a bit of a handful?

Your mixers are not in the "twitchy" setting, but your paddles make it twitchy, you may add expo to tame it down. Do you also have the light aluminium paddles weights?

I am already running 40% expo!! I do have the light paddle weights

Perhaps I will give it a try with standard paddles

I'd stick with the paddles, you could stick some flybar weights on to calm it down, that's what I did to my first trex.

Just took them off the Knight with the V-Paddles - great fun!

something might be funny with your setup

mine has the light paddles and light paddle holders, yet I had to reduce expo to 0% as it was too soft. headspeed in this case is about 2000

also, 40% expo will give problems because the increase in throw comes along quite suddenly. this might be part of your problem, or is it twitchy right at center?

Twichy Eolo

Hi All

Well I took it to the field today, to see what is was like with a bit more space.... It was a right handful

Whilst at the field, I noticed the flybar seesaw felt quite stiff. I popped off the links, and found that one of the mixing arms was really stiff. When I backed off the allen bolt a bit, it freed up, but left some play in the bearing. I am using Quick UK grips and mixing arms. It seems that if you tighten the bolt to remove all the slop, the mixing arm binds.

Does anyone else have this problem? I am going to drop Quick a note tomorrow to see if they can suss out what the problem is.

I think this must be what is causing the problem.... fingers crossed!!

the way to solve that is to NOT use the washer on the bolt, as that compresses between the bolt and the outer of the bearing to cause the binding you are getting. It should be free after that otherwise there is a deeper problem.

When I put the Quick stuff on I had to loosen all the ball links with pliers - just like I said at the field!, spent a bit more time on the ones that go from the grips to the flybar, also make sure that the piece that is attached to the main shaft which stops the swash turning is not too tight, mine was and it made it tricky to fly!

Hi Thomas,

It's not the links that are tight, it is the mixing arms themselves. I think I have found the problem, in that they seems to be a shim fitted either side of the arm, that is bigger than the inner race of the bearing, so when you tighten the bolt, the bearing is being compressed.

Have ordered new shims today from Quick, so hopefully this will sort it out...

As I said above, you don't need to use the shims/washers.

I found the Quick bolts too long aswell so used the Robbe ones and the washer too. You'll like it once you get it up and running, had mine out on Saturday, can now see the appeal of 4s.

Get yourself a Trex, the Eolo is a walk in the park compared to those things.
