has any one had the head explode in air on the mx400. I was in forward flight and not going to fast or had too high a head speed . I had 1 flight before and just changed batteries when i heard two loud click kind of sounds and then the head went in two different directions. what a crash ps lost a set of carbon blades besides everything else.

I'm guessing the rotor hub broke in half?

This is a known design issue (less with them failing in flight and more with the entire rotor head popping off in crashes).

Best to replace the hub with the aluminum one.

the temp here in nebraske was about 49 at about 5pm and hardly no wind for once. I've been looking it over and the head block is gone the linkage is reuseable, the tail boom & supports are history i did notice that one screw on the tail case is missing that holds the tail pitch slider bracket on . but in flight it didn't act as if it was a tail problem 2 clicks and the head blew apart

Sorry to hear about the crash. It is crap that they are selling the pro with all the upgrades that you dont need and missing the one necessary upgrade. The aluminum center hub is a must. Not only does the plastic one occasionally break in flight, when it breaks, it takes the whole head with it. The x400 really is a sweet little machine, but I had to upgrade the whole head to aluminum to bring it to my satisfaction. Guess that is how they make their money.

I had the same problem. The temperature was about 4'C, maybe too cold for the plastic head. I was about to land so the damage is minor - slider plus couple linkages. Never the less I am not flying as the parts are on back order. I should have bought T-Rex.

Don't think your safe when it's warm outside. My plastic main head block exploded at 70 degrees while hovering.

It's rediculous that the Pro version still has that plastic main hub.

At least Align(T-Rex) is quick to fix problems. They also produce enough parts so that availability is not an issue.

Same here. I have the standard MX-400 and my head gave on flight one.
Centerhub was replaced with metal and is troublefree.
The pro is not a pro I guess as so many other pro's in that field.
.......... I already have a 3D-Pro.......which is not a pro at all to use friendly words.....
However the good news is, the only metal parts you should need are the centerhub and the metal tail blade grips. Everywhere else the plastic works for me at least. I have flown mine down to 15 degrees F without problems.

Mine too!

I was landing the other day with my MX400 (standard) and the head block crapped out. Now I'm looking for the aluminum upgrade. Who all carries them? Seems no one has them in stock... and I would really like to get back in the air with this bird!

i never had any problems with my plastic hub 'when' my x400 was stock.

used the ark aluminum hub for quite a while

now i run a trex XL/microheli head & SE tail.

i still have a Complete ARK head for sale if anyone wants it. red cnc hub & the rest is plastic. pulled from a flying heli, it's in excellent condition. good for spares, etc. if you want, ill throw in some nice trex XL bits that i have extra. i have the forked tail pitch slider & tail grips/hub.

I had converted my 400 to the metal head but still had issues with the see saw and the flybar arms. It just wouldn't track and the collective was sticky, so yesterday I bought a complete head set up (everything except for the CCPM swash) for a T Rex.

It took me about 2 hours to install and set up and this morning I flew it and Wow!!. It flys better than my T Rex due to the direct CCPM and no problems with tracking or pitch set up.

Converting to the CCPM and going with a T Rex head is the way to go.

But it's no longer a 400.

MX 400 upgraded CCPM frame.
T Rex tail boom.
T Rex tail rotor.
T Rex head.
T Rex landing gear.

For what I have into this I could of bought a T Rex SE.
