My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I have been flying my Blade CP for a little over a week with the new BH mod and wow what a difference. It doesn't turn it to a 3D monster by anymeans but it sure does make it a lot more fun. I can now roll it without having to be 300 feet high. Much improved cyclic response. Here is a video of some mild aerobatics. Nothing spectacular but it was my first attempts. The heli is stock with MS composit blades and 9 tooth pinion set up on my 9C.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The Bell-hiller mod doesn't change the swash it is actually the mixing in the head. The stock BCP comes with Bell mixing so if you hold the Cyclic while turning the head you can actually see how the mixing on the head works. With the Bell-Hiller the amount of mixing is doubled and that is why the Cyclic response is so much improved. That is a pretty rough explanation but I hope it helps. As far as other changes to the Blade having it on my Computer Radio makes a huge difference because I am able to tweak all of my curves and add some expo which is really needed with th bell Hiller upgrade. My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I think a lot of people are getting the definition mixed up. The stock config is Hiller head (indirect cyclic pitch mechanism via flight paddles). The direct linkage system btwn the blades and the swash plate is known as the Bell system. When you have a combination of both the Hiller and Bell, you call it Hiller-Bell Mix.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		...so now we know it is possible to do loops/rolls outdoors with a totally stock Blade CP...(no mods except the E-Flite Bell-Hiller, carbon fiber main blades, 3s LiPo), no factory pilot)...

...after approx. 70 flights on my Blade/Honeybee, all i do are circuits, figure 8's, and pirouettes - this will give me something to work on in the future (assuming i ever get brave enough to try a loop or roll with one of these little micros)...

Heliplane - it looks like the Bell-Hiller upgrade is the way to go with the Blade CP - the aerobatics look more precise and responsive than pre-Bell Hiller videos i've seen...

Not to mention, the stock tail setup looks pretty effective in this video - it doesn't appear that you really need the direct drive tail.

...i have over 60 flights on my original Blade CP tail motor - i just flew it last night & the tail is still holding quite well - i see no necessity to change over to the direct drive tail motor...

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The Bell-Hiller head makes the cyclic much more responsive. Some beginners like that increased responsiveness. Now the heli will immediately go exactly where you command it to go, even if that's not really where you want it to go. Personally, I think that's great for an experienced pilot, not so great for a beginner.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the stock head is stronger than the B-H head. If you have a crash with the stock head, sometimes the blade flips upside-down. Usually, no other major damage to the rotor head occurs, aside maybe from bent shafts and broken landing skids. With the B-H head, the blade can't flip upside-down w/o damage because it has a washout lever attached to it instead of just a ball link. So the entire lever just breaks off. Now you have to replace the entire main grip, which is kind of a pain.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		...i agree - starting out hovering, flying circuits, figure 8's, etc. the original head works fine...and is more durable - eventually, you'll want to try some aerobatics - when you're ready to try loops & rolls it's probably time to install the Bell-Hiller upgrade...

...one thing i noticed - with the more complicated Bell-Hiller head design it's now harder to access the pitch control links so tracking the blades is more of a pain, too...

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Wow, that looks like something that I need. I have done a roll with the aerobatic upgrade kit with a 1320 it it on the stock head and it was, um.., not pretty. Actually I nearly smacked the ground and I had started at least 200 feet up. It just did NOT like doing the roll with that combination, so I have not tried it again. Looks liek I need some Carbon baldes, a 900MaH bateryy and the Bell-Hiller head. The rolls looked very good as the video went along.
