Hi Slider,

Nice job!! That body really looks great. I might have to give some thought to doing a scale bird. They really look great flying!

What does your bird weigh in at? How much weight does the body add? I'm thinking one of my FP is a candidate for a scale body

Cheers,
Leslie

None sense. Most of us run lipos with our brushed motor. The BL setup is a lot of trouble and $$$. But switching to lipo, all you need is the battery and a good charger. Hack, I always use my $8.99 GWS charger, and the more flying time and cycles you can run through the Lipos compared to the birdseed, the Lipos are cheaper than the birdseeds.

Hi all,

I run lipos on all my birds. I also run brushless. I got quickly bored with the birdseed 6minutes of flight.

It does not have to be outrageously expensive, the lightening motor from century is 24.00 an 18A brushless esc (I like hobbywing) is reasonable at around 20-30.00. Chargers run the gamut in prices 8.99 (garage_flyer) to 100.00 for an astro 109.

The thing is you won't have just one bird for long. I have 5 now and the batteries are pretty much interchangable between birds as are most of the motors and escs.

I the long run, lipos rule. I get 15-20 minutes of flight on my little fp birds. Makes learning easier

cheers,
Leslie

Hi Hoverking,

I would recommend a trex if you have some room to fly, the belt drive tail is awesome.

the 3dpro is a distant second, it has a gear driven tail that is a real pain in the backside. Nice little bird but....

cheers,
Leslie

thanks for the rec.. but its a little out of my price range i was thinking of either another micro hummingbird full version or to upgrade my fp to a cp..i like to fly in my yard, not a ton of room but i'm still in the hover stage. learning to fly sideways and facing myself.. craig

Hi Hoverking,

I said about the same thing a couple years ago time will tell. I bet in a couple years you'll be flying all kinds of birds

Keeping on a budget, check out the blade cp. I can't speak first hand but it does have me intrigued. I'm finding my lhs carries the blade and alot of the blade parts fit my hummingbird (handy)

Cheers,
Leslie

blade

my neighbor flew down one day and we were talking about heli"s i cosidered them some years ago but they were way to expensive and touch. todays electronics amaze me. he has one of them and he reccomended the hummingbird thats how i got started. anyway he has thething all decked out and it flies really well. thats defenitely a contender.. i actually have e-flite tail rotor on my bird i got it at my lhs and it fits.. I think there's a major mfg in china that produces these and everybody else puts thier name on them.... craig

I have 10 RC cars as well, but the hack, what do you have to trade for? If it's a nice car, I can trade you a T-Rex, or a shogun, or 3D Pro or Elite CP.

I'm not sure who asked but I am flying with a stock motor and gear drive tail, the long blades for a v3 with a fuse on it and I have an Align 6 ch reciever and GHS pha01 mixer/gyro setup with 2s 1500mah lipos.. I don't have a scale but the fuse is made of lexan and probably weighs 1 oz. with the paint....I love the low cost and easy flying and the body adds some weight which makes the v3 more stable......
The only thing I would suggest is make sure your heli is setup perfect before you put the fuse on as it's a pain to take of and on. I like have a body on the v3 so much that I'm going to put a body on my blade cp next. I just got it painted friday nite, just need to glue it together and slip it on.....
