I thought I didn't need one since I was always very careful tighening and checking the radius block. One day on a pre flight inspection the radius block pin fell out and I notice the plastic had cracked holding the pin. So that day was shot. It has two pins but no way I was going to take a chance flying with one pin. So I would recommend upgrading the radius block.

The new plastic replacement looks better than the one I have so I can't comment on the revised plastic radius block. http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/me...&Category_Code=

It'll work with the stock plastic one for a while, but the original stock radius block cracks if you torque down on the bolts too tight. It's quite difficult to get just the right tension on the bolts to hold properly without cracking.

I haven't tried the new plastic version. It has a separate set-screw, and I imagine like all other Hirobo plastic parts you'll need to cut the threads with a tap before trying to use the setscrew or you'll risk cracking it as well.

The metal upgrade can be found at Rick's and many other online shops. It's well worth the money.

my older version spun on my evo 50. don't know about the new version. I have ex radius blocks on my evo 50 and x-spec. Won't go back to the plastic one. I like the metal on this particular piece. Having said that there is not much else that needs upgrading

Got to agree with Daddysyatch!!

I saw the rolls he was doing the day it slipped, lots of interaction and almost some interaction with the dirt. Good thing he knew something was wrong before he tried to roll it again otherwise he could have been 1 less heli and plus 1 kitset.

For the cost - upgrade it. Its nothing compared to a new set of blades even.

Hirobo needs to include the 0404-730 as a kit part, not an option.
