Hey EdrumCAT,

You have done very well with the canopy, I'd like to have sprayed mine further but was worried of it all flaking off.

I take it the paints you used were meant for spraying flexible plastic, or was it the Tamiya White that provided the keying coat perhaps?

It looks great though and thats the main thing.

First of all Coolice, fluorescent colours need a white primer coat to stand out very well. Primer coats is needed for all type of paint.

Tamiya White is to take hold best the colour sprays.
I have done 2 coat of tamiya spray, next 2 of black, 3 of green, sanded any imperfection of paint.
Finally apply clear paint ( 3 coats or more until obtaining wished brightness ).
Remember to spray all coats about a distance of 35cm.
The secret is clear paint coat very well. Be patient.

I have done the job in five days.

Bye

Would the same steps work on Fiberglass canopies?

Thank you very much. I'm going to try to paint my "lunch box" (plastic) first. See how outside paint will work.

3 items make all the difference in the world:

PPG DX330 (degreaser)

tack cloth

latex gloves (never touch the model with your skin after the plastic has been cleaned and tacked)

after that just take your time and apply many thin coats rather than fewer thick coats.

if it ain't broke…break it.

We can work on your Lime green 71 Cuda too. That's make tomorrow a painting day . I may stop by RC country for some changing color paint. See if they have one go from Flori. Yellow to Lime Green . That way my lunch box will be a perfect match to your lime green Cuda
