Hi Gent’s

I have built my EOLO LE and cant get it to stop striping the 75 tooth gear S5094, do any of you no if there is an up graded metal version of this thing .

I have striped 3 in two weeks and cant find out what is wrong, it mesh’s nice with the tail drive gear and seams to run smoothly when on the ground but strips teeth when I start to give it any head speed.

I’m stumped?

Hi bighic

Have you installed the 3rd bearing. If not this will fix the problem. If you are stripping the tail part of the gear you should set the tail with no back lash

Good luck Mike

Cheers Mike.

But the 3rd bearing is fitted and it is the plastic 75 tooth gear that keeps getting striped were it connects to the tail drive shaft.

Be sure to push your main gear down when you set the mesh, it may move down in flight leaving the mesh too loose at the tail. When you take your heli by the head after flight you pull the gear up getting your mesh tight again and then you #"%&&% because the gear is stripped and the mesh is tight.

Ya, me too! HugeOne is correct. After you do what HugeOne suggested, you need to make sure the mesh of the two gears is not loose. Push to two gears a little more closer will improve that! But mine still get a little bit stripe!

There is a metal spacer that is supposed to go above the main gear hub. Is that spacer in there? I bet this is the problem, unless you are not installing the pinion gear with no lash.

Also, if you are using the plastic bearing holder for the pinion gear, you might change to bolts that go all the way through the frame instead of the four bolts that hold from each side. This way, the pinion carrier is less likely to move.

Thank you guys for your help I am going to strip it down today, I don’t think there was a metal spacer so I will have a check on that but when I take it for a fly there is no play in the gears at all even when it has striped some teeth the good teeth run smooth.

I don’t have any trouble with my Eolo R22 but this is very frustrating.

Thank you all again…

Also check if your main frame is straight. If you crashed or the package has fallen your frame might warp, causing the teeth to strip.

If you sneeze, that frame bends

It is a standard replacement for any crash

Sorry for the delay Stet but the spacer was in there.

I did however replace the tail boom with a new carbon fibre one and it seems to of solved the problem so I can only think the silver one that comes with the model was slightly too long.

Thank you all very much for your help chaps hopefully it is cured.
