Report from Webra

Hi gasser lovers.

I got a replay on my email from Webra i send them earlier. Them answer this on my email today.

Dear Mr. Larsson,

We are back from the Toy Far Nürnberg on which we could present our new 91.P5Hi engine.
There are a lot of interest for our News so that we are very busy now and therefore we are so
late for our answer, sorry.

We can understand your troubles with the temperature with the TT70. We could not find such
temperature problems by our test engines because our engine design is much different to TT.
So is our cyl. liner made from aluminium and the conrod have on both ends needle bearings.
Carburator together with our regulator works perfect.

The ignition system you have seems us right, like ours but we can adjust the timing in flight.

The engine incl. ignition and regulator will cost Euro 590,00 and should be available in May.

Thank you for your link to runryder, we find your report very interest.

With best regards
Best regards - Yours WEBRA-Service

On a post on the Cyberheli site, they write that it will be available mid May and they expect the selling price to be < U$500.

Question for Gasser experts: Does it make much difference in power what level Octane gas you use in these engines, such as the Webra 91 Gas?

Thanks.

Better performance with 98 octanes than 95. Higher octanes means more powerfull explodings.

More octane more heat

The problem that will bog most of this conversions is HEAT.
With that in mind you can use Camper fuel wich is lower octane and with variable timing, you can get it right, no matter what octane.

Webra just considered the amount of heat, and made some modifications on building materials.

Building materials

The materials can only help dissipate heat, but the one thing responsible for heat is combustion itself. If you have a high octane
fuel then the heat will last longer inside the engine, a lower octane fuel will help disipate heat faster from the engine through exhaust fumes.

Isn't octane related to resistance to burn at a lower temperature? So wouldn't a lower octane rating be more powerful at a lower compression? I know if I run 87 in my turbo it will knock and ping and run like junk because it has to retard the timing so much. My wife like to forget that it takes premium only.

High octane gas burns more slowly than low octane gas, that's why you use high octane gas in a high compression engine. Power increases with compression ratio but high compression ratio causes pre-ignition (or knocking or pinging). You can retard the timing but then you lose power. The best solution is to increase the octane rating of the gas. When it comes to gasser engines - just use the recommended octane. Anything higher is a waste of money unless you change the compression ratio or engine control system.
