I visited the fair "INTERMODELLBAU DORTMUND" in GERMANY.
So I was able to speak with recent people from ROBBE about the Helicommand.
As I already pre-ordered one, I was told to get it end of april. I was a little bit sad, that there wasnŽt a limited sell-away amount for special interested people like me at the fair :-)

HeliCommand can only (try) to hold position when underground is textured and not solid. Also, because it uses laser-style and not VideoCam to hold position, it can only handle position lock between 0-3m over ground.
Anything above is only possible with 10x more expensive Systems (if you want to buy from robbe).

Right now, IŽm not so much impressed, but will keep my order right on.
Maybe it does a great job to hold CamHeli in a stable horizontally hovering at least.

a little goody that already was posted by someone else in a different thread:
Some pics from the fair.

The company I fly for ordered two of these and was looking to see them about May. If they are only good for 3m above ground that won't do us any good for AP use at 80'-150' in the air.

Ok before one month contact with company for more information.
here is the reply:

Dear Mr Vasilis,
yes sir the HeliCommand stabilizer is also working with 90° CCPM system and
also with benzin Engine.
The HeliCommad 3 is made for the modeling area an the swash stabilisation of
horizontal position is working in general.
The additional position stabilisation is working around 0,3 ... 3 meter
above surface.

For the professional purpose we suggest to use the HeliCommand profi unit
who has SMM gyros and a much better optical system he works up to 10 meters.
As an option also there can be added a GPS system for stablisation of higher
altitudes.
Attached please find a decription of the HeliComand Profi. At the moment
it's just in German, within few weeks we will have it also in English
language.
Best regards
robbe Modellsport

After that i call them and ask what they mean to "up to 10 meters" and told me the helicommand profi isnt for hight altitude than 10 meters!!!
I dont know why but when ask them the price(2980euros!!!) i decide to buy the carvec system.

hope this helps

Bill

Carvec Core (without GPS and altimeter = no postion hold at all, no hight control) is about the same price as the Helicommand pro. Helicommand pro includes 3 Gyros + 3 inertial sensors + altimeter for hight control (lock) + position lock up to 10m. So it has the same stabilization skills as Carvec has + hight control + position control up to 10m.
So which one is the better deal?
If you want a Carvec incl GPS and altimeter you have to pay at least double the price of the Helicommand, then you have better position lock but a much bigger black hole in your wallet.
GPS will be available as option.
-And no, I`m not working for robbe.

According with the videos I saw, CARVEC holds position quite fine even without GPS. It has altimeter option too but no idea about what price has every different pack or how the altimeter sensor increases the final price.
Which one is the better deal?

CARVEC can just show you what it can do but for the moment helicomand canŽt do the same, so we are comparing a reality vs. a promise.
Must wait to see what can it do.
And no, I`m not working for CARVEC. (but if John needs someone to help him testing units I will be glad to sacrifice my flying time on it)

Hmmm agree with this point.
Lets see what is going on on real working with both systems.
If everybody here check the helicommand and carvec lets say it.
At the moment my suggest for hight altitude, this cheap and clean for horizontal position system

Yes. work at optically store!!!!

Torsten, I thought you were getting a CARVEC system fitted a while back? If so, how's that working for you?

Are you getting the Helicommand system just to check out or did you not get the Carvec system?

Jepp Carvec is down the line. I hope to visit John in May to install it to the Comeback. The Helicommand Hobby version may be something for my little photo birds.

Just heard Carvec can't supply me for a while.......

I would like one of John's systems but he's up to his eyeballs in production and can't give me a firm date as yet.

It's good to see the big boy are showing interest and realising that there is a growing market out there. I would really like to get some feedback on the Robbe systems and see it working. Anyone know where I can see one, does not matter when or where, I can be there!

Any news Torston??

difference between Spartan, fs8 and helicommand

Hello,

This is an interesting thread!

Just curious: does anyone know the differences between the spartan AP2000i, the FS8 copilot and this helicommand?

Regards,

Klaas Pieter

Klaas,

The helicommand has inertial sensors and gyros while the other two has infrared sensors and no gyros.
Helicommand does not need to see the horizon while the others depend on a view to the horizon in all directions.
