I think we should all wait for Torsten test, but...

I can't stop thinking how such device could be useful.
And I was also thinking about the 3 meters thing they say...
I hope that the true is that what they claim in their enlish translation is that the device could ONLY work above the limit of 3 meters, in fact I think that the real limit would not be the resolution of the camera that is facing the ground, or better the resolution could be a problem at a low level where the details would be micro and not macro. I think that a video sensor would work better from high altitude when it is recording macro details for ex. the backyard of an house compared to the nearby road. That could be better than comparing the difference between some grass leafs at an altitude of 3 meters. I hope I am right, and lets wait and see...

update after tel conversation with Robbe

UPDATE !

just got of the phone with a Robbe employee.

the "hobby" version does only hold position over ground up to 3 Meters altitude. so nothing for us really. it will however stabilize with the 3 gyros above that.

a "pro" version should be ready mid march and be available for a test on one of my photohelis. this will be very complex and will need to be adjusted to the helicopters specific data and flight characteristics. no plug and play for sure on that one.

he would/could not tell me if that version will also use a gps or just a better optical tracking system or both. maybee also a barometric altitude sensor, with all the problems that go with that.

size and pricewise it will be in the pro range as well.

Robbe wants to upload a video of the hobby unit to their homepage soon.

so as usuall itŽs not all gold that blinks.

iŽll keep you posted

are you going to test it any way ? even with out the optical tracking?
I would like to know how it would perform with the gyro stab only.

...so you are not going to test the NO PRO unit? is it so?
it would be good to know what it could do with out the "otical tracking" working only by gyros.
Thanks

Anyone figured out the difference between the 3A and 3D units other than the price? The website descriptions are identical.

Robbe Helicommand Model 3A basically locks helicopter's attitude in 3 axis. 3D has everything 3A has + works inverted. RIGID is for flybarless rotors.
Cheers,

That's interesting but....

....I think that we where all waiting to see something more about the stabilizer working out of the 3 meters "optical ground effect".
I would really like to know how it performs with out the optical stabilizer, of course it will drift but I would really appreciate to see a video!
Heli_Freak_de

do you know if such video is online somewhere?
Thanks

I am guessing that over 9ft the sensor resolution is not enough to see enough detail to track the ground.

yes, as you can read in the spec on robbe.de the sensor will work up 3 meters

but they say also that after the height of 3 meters (9ft) the 3gyros will take care of keeping the heli stable.
Of course one could imagine that 3 gyros are not enough to keep a long hover, and that is what they honestly and correctly admit, but it would have been interesting to see a real video with the device performing in all situation it was devised for , not only the spectacular one at not more than 3m...

I would like to see a video of that too

I am trying to decide if I should get Angelos unit, the general lazer, or this one. So far I think Angelos looks best.
