Blade Grip Question:

I seem to have stripped the ball link hole on the blade grip while tapping the hole w/ a 3mm tap (to get the ball in easier), can I use the other set of holes? What's the difference between the two?

Also: On the seesaw, which set of holes to use?

Thanks!

Thanks.

What happened was I tried to tap the holes with my 3mm tap, but I must have done too much and the screw did not seem to bite very well. So I felt better using the other set of holes. Looks like the trick is to just tap a small amount of the hole and that helps the screw get started. Did that with the swash and it seems ok.

Don't use a tap!

Try threading a 3mm Allen head into the blade grips next time. Same goes for the swash plate. This makes things much easier and the threads are nice and snug when the balls are installed.

As for your current dilemma, if the threads are just a little loose, just JB Weld the ball in. If you ever replace the blade grip it's not a big deal because Hirobo includes balls with a new set of blade grips.

Thanks, I will give your tip a try. I would guess using a 3mm tap on a 3mm hole would end up making it slightly too big?

I will make sure the balls are glued in place to ensure they don't come out.

Servos??

I still can't decide what servos to put in. While I am not into 3D, I plan to progress this season into aerobatics and some mild 3D.

Any suggestions?

did you decide on the swm conversion?

for futaba servos:
9202s or 9402s are pretty decent servos for non digital

for digital 9252s are damn sweet, i like them a lot on mine. also maybe the 9255s, im going to try a set of those out on one of my sceadus.

what are your plans for batteries, gyro, gov etc? gonna use those mavrikk blades?

Gyro: JR G500T w/ 8799G Servo
Battery: 2400 mAh SubC NiCd pack
Gov: I don't use one.
Blades: Have a set of woddies to throw on there until I am sure everything is set up correctly, then I will use the carbon.

Going to do the CCPM conversion as well.

Well..I have no problem with any brand. My shuttle has a mix of JR and Futaba.

What are good JR servos?

hehe i cant help ya with the JR servos thats why i asked.

for futaba, and your setup, id probably give the 9402s a lookin at. they wont annilhilate your battery and keep you attached to the charger every 2-3 flights considering the ccpm you could probably do pretty well with 3x 9202s to be honest.

its not to say digitals arent completely worth it, because they are. but they will be more drain on your battery. the other benefits of them arent so huge that it makes them a must have either. i used to run a sceadu with all digitals and would have to recharge often, same machine reverted to coreless/non digitals i could fly more and charge a little less.

Right...I think the best solution for me at this point is to use some basic servos that won't cost an arm and a leg. I just want something that can handle aerobatics and mild 3D.

Then at some point when my skills catch up I can upgrade servos and go with a better power setup like LiPo.

I got my EVO 50 kit recently too and the main and counter gear seem to bind, as there doesn't been to be a difference in the way the lower bearing holder of the counter gear goes in I flipped it around and it was a little bit better....it's still loud as hell...hopefully it will wear in...

Just a quick tip. In Step 4 you assembly the 'Evevator lever assembly'then in step 17 you install the 'Collective Pitch Lever'. I was unable to fit the bearing listed in step 17 onto the 'Elevator lever assembly', it was too tight and becuase it was moutned already I was unable you get a good hold of it.

I ender up taking the frames apart again to put the bearing on, better to take the bearing from the Step 17 bag and put it on right away in step 4.

Then again..you're probably way past that step already...
