What paint and clear did you spray with Boogie - looks very nice. Over the Align plastic carbon canopy right?

If you look above, that's what I did my night canopy out of. You painted from the inside or outside? How did you do the graphite and did you clear or undercoat? If you cleared, what did you use?

Thanks for the help - I'm a novice air-brush guy.

Do you overcoat the paint with any color to get that vibrance and protect it? Looks great Boogie. My only problem with faskolor is that it scratches too easily from the inside.

Madman - When painting from the inside...or even from the outside, use pretty thin coats, and don't do too many. When the paint goes on too thick it tends to crack/flake/scratch very easy. I usually undercoat with a bright color which helps make it look more vibrant from the outside. If you're going to use the chrome paint however, you need to back that with a water-based black or it won't look right.

Just re-read my post and want to add/clarify. When I said "undercoat" I really meant "overcoat" because you're painting from the inside. Using something like white, or even a silver helps bring out brighter colors of paint. When you're using darker colors (not that you would on a Heli, could be rather difficult to see) you won't neccesarily want to use a bright color. A good way to experiment is by picking up some transparency at Staples or something and painting different colors with different backings to go an idea of how it's going to look.

As for painting fiberglass/carbon canopies, it's the primer that's going to have the effect on the color. For red, I almost always use a white primer, for colors like blue/gree etc...I like to use a black primer, and for colors such as yellow and orange (just naming more popular colors, and this is of course personal preferance) I vary between white and gray. Always use a clear coat. I also use automotive paints as I like the way they look. Here's an awesome site for buying paints and tutorials
