LOL
I figured out he means HB 3Dpro metal tail gear set (reasonable price ~£5) and will they fit a Hornet. Anyone know the numbers?

EDT: Looks like a 10T or 12T conicol pinion, Hornet I think is 8T.

You can get a brass conical pinion gear for the hornet, persoanlly i have never needed one, and at $20 odd dollars i can't ever see me having one either!

Oh look yet another hornet cheap knock off clone
That ally head set looks pant's compared to the duzi stuff

Yes I agree...
$9.95 is tempting, (edit) from here.

I'm in two minds whether this is a good or bad development for Hornet flyers

DarkHorse-Where'd u see that?

Ermm the Century HB3DPro gearset will fit, but it'll require bearing change all the way. It uses a 3mm drive instead, I think.

OT to DarkHorse: You could give it a shot. I'm not so sure of the fittings. Although i'm pretty sure the Viper shown has some link with the dragonfly 22A. looks like foam blades to me. and the canopy design is similar too. Only that it's tail motor drive. Bell Hiller is definitely a step forward.... Thanks for the link... lifted up my hope of getting cheaper spares for a while

The Venom head block looks just like the new MS head. $10 is one 10th the cost of the Duzi!!

I cant help but think this will be a good thing for those still flying Hornet heads. As long as the parts are compatible.

I think the Hornet is on it's death bed, all the guys around here are buying up Blade CP/CX's like they are going out of style, Why? They are cheap, fly reasonably well out of the box, and the LHS has full stock of parts.

Seems very few of the Hornet retailers carry the full replacment parts list for the Hornet line anymore. My buddy had a minor crash last weekend and I had to place three sepperate orders to get the parts needed And $10 for a single hiller link!! Damb man that sucks!!

No need to worry. The attack of the clones only means we spend lesser. Some of the parts that acctually work better... off the Dragonfly CP 22A ( I can only say it's head is similar to the Viper from the looks of the blade grip) : The hub and grips are beefier. Damping's not bad... the grips have longer "recesses?" allowing for more bearings to be added or simply... using different blades.... try&tested.

To cut down on costs, I am sourcing bearings outside.. managed to find Japanese at around $1USD a piece for some 2x6x2.3.. very soon i will have a triple bearinged main blade grip....
