Got one at Gyro Hobbies (the last of the first three they got) and mounted it in one of the Rex's last night. I fly near a major airport a lot and get random glitches there so it should be a great test of this things ability to shed bad signals. I mounted the RX immediately next to a CC (noisy) ESC just to see if all of their claims are true. Should have the first flights tomorrow (Saturday morning California time).

Got Mine at the LHS yesturday which they saved for me. I had my wife wrap it and put it under the tree, so it can be from her and I get what I want

If it works out like I hope it will then I'll be buying 7 more receivers.

We were checking that out last night at the LHS. How is that going to work with just a three point curve. I know right now they mainly meant for the park flyer's at this point. Seems like the heli software was not a major concern at this point, and what is available (as far as software goes) is still vey limited.

I fly my micros at 100 straight across on throttle (after spool up) and 0 - 100 on pitch (-10 to +10) so this is fine for me. I'm sure it won't meet everyone's needs and I won't be mounting one on a nitro bird. It fills a need for me in one area of my helicopter hobby. I just happen to have a lot of heli's in this one area.

Set TLS and T2S to 100. Use the Throttle Travel to set the target rpm.

This gives a flat line in IU1.

Now for the flight test report. I strapped the RX right onto the CC 25 ESC, the noisiest one I have. I mounted that inside and sandwiched to a CF frame. I removed the ferrite cores completely. I took the heli out to a field that has a 5 million gallon water tank buried in it with radio transmitters that keep the water company updated on it's condition located very near John Wayne Airport. This field is NOT heli friendly at all. There is a hell of a breeze coming off the ocean right now but I have to say that the only problem I had was a tail wag. I haven't got the remote gyro thing sorted yet since this is the first flight. I turned it down and the heli was PERFECT. I have never trusted that field (from past bad experiences) and this thing was velcro'd to the ESC!

The three point curves are no problem for me at all, I use 100's all the way for throttle (adjust end points for proper RPM) and a linear -10 to +10 pitch. This set up is not for everyone but it certainly is for me.

This 2.4 Spectrum stuff is ground breaking. IMO it is about where the TRex was in V1. Knowing Horizon updates are already in the works. I just hope the existing Tx's can be sent back for any Heli updates should they become available.
I was a guest this afternoon at a local club and the assurance of not getting shot down would have been comforting. Today was not a nice day but there were 12 people out to fly with planes of all types and a Heli.

If the TX can't be updated I'm cool with it. I knew the risks involved with buying the beta version. As lomg as the receivers are usable with newer version then it's all good. I need to order more RX's NOW. I've pushed 4 packs through it and not one single bad experience. I tried pointing the antenna straight at the heli and every other bad thing I can think of and nothing, not a single hiccup.

I'm sold, I need 7 more receivers.

So your saying the Spektrum can be used with a good governer mode successfully (Jazz)?

Yes. There's a couple of ways to get a flat line in Idle Up (IU):

1. THS = THN
The stunt high value is the same as high in the normal flight mode. So, for example, if you want 82% all the way across, set THN = 82, T2S = 82 and TLS = 82.

OR

2. Use Throttle Travel.
Set T2S and TLS to 100% and set the target rpm using the Throttle travel.

OR

3. THR - THR mix.
I have not tried this, but a mix can be setup to mix Thottle to Throttle in Stunt mode. Set T2S and TLS to 100%. Master = Slave = CH1, Mix ASW = F1 (Flight Mode Position 1) and then use the mixing value to set the target rpm.
